[ Ren doesn't seem perturbed or repulsed as he listens so much as he just seems kind of sad. He doesn't know much about his own Akechi's mother, but he knows enough to be aware that his Akechi narrowly avoided a similar fate. Except for how Shido already had Ren to do his Metaverse killing, of course. (And he definitely knows all about information-gathering in the Metaverse, but that's a whole other conversation...) ]

So it was a revenge thing. [ Akechi with his furious, implacable sense of justice. What would that look like if it got twisted? If anyone would walk willingly the jaws of Shido's Conspiracy to chase his justice, it would be Akechi. ]
