the big divide really is between hellborn, which are native demons born here, and sinners, who are mortals that passed on, failed to meet whatever fucking standard exists at the pearly gates, and wound up here. sinners are immortal and can't be permanently killed except by angelic weaponry, while hellborn run the gamut between 'functionally equivalent to human if a bit stronger/tougher/more resilient' and 'ageless beings similar to sinners in terms of raw power but still, technically, mortal by virtue of the fact that they can be killed'
