The irony isn’t lost on him. Here she was, nudging him to take a break, while she hadn’t even sat down long enough to finish a meal herself. That plate she carries around like a social disguise didn’t fool him. Always bouncing from person to person, spinning plates no one asked her to juggle.

"You know," he starts, giving her a sidelong look—eyebrows raised, mouth tugged somewhere between a smirk and a frown. "For someone real good at making everyone else relax, you’re damn terrible at taking your own advice."
