Intro RP Post
TW: death, gunshot, suicidal attempt (only referenced!!)
Further info about him here (POWERS updated)!
Akira had thought he had gotten used to the concept of multiple timelines.
After all, he had been wrapped up in his own little cobwebs of grief and lies; circulating into themselves as the boy felt like he was trapped under the very sands of an hourglass- breathless for another chance. Another photo. Not like it mattered after some point where he moved from-
-preventing that gunshot to go off at the interrogation table
-killing the corrupt politician when he crossed paths with him the third time-
-watching his bright eyed detective smile at him as he pulls the trigger of the barrel resting on his head-
Stop.
He shouldn't think about all of that right now. There's a reason why he did all of this. From the lies, the torture, the grief and the murders attached to it. "The ends would justify the means" was his mantra like it was that very detective's mantra as he dragged him to a rabbit hole he couldn't escape from. Tch, who was he kidding- he couldn't blame him for his problems. He chose to do this and now his foot was already halfway and out of the fucking door.
Option 1: Say Cheese!
One would think with how the very aspect of photographs acted like metaphorical chains for the young man, he would learn his ways and attempt to stay away from them if only to allay his own anxiety but for him- photography was one of his many hobbies when he was a kid. The little blue butterflies fluttering in the parks to the grassy paddy fields that stretched for acres- in those little innocent moments Akira didn't have this accursed power and even now, as he briefly clings to the camera- those memories kept him grounded. The weight of his camera with its polished dark red strap around his neck remained ever so obvious as he walked down the streets of Shibuya, unsure of what to do now that the long-nosed man had told him he was stuck here. He was convinced it had something to do with...everything he did but really adding him into a place like this is asking for trouble. Not that he would listen to him.
Don't worry. You will come to realize that bonds and happiness can be accomplished without breaking your timeline.
Whatever that meant, Igor.
He rolls his eyes and adjusts the lens of his camera before holding it up and aiming it at the busy streets of Shibuya Square, watching the crowd pass by.
CLICK!
Oh, he wasn't expecting the sudden turn back from the stranger while he still has his camera aimed at them, assuming they would just ignore him as the rest of the other...cognitions here. Whatever that means. With everything he's done he's a bit glad he can just do what he wants without consequence. "Oh um," he lowers his camera. "...Did you see me do that?"
He had asked that question at another cognition before when they turned to look at him as he took a picture of their outfit. They just tilted their head at him then denied him with a laugh before continuing forward. He was expecting this interaction to go like that.
Option 2: How does all of this work?
Akira finds himself at the backalleys of Central Street this time, more specifically leaving a specific shop with a bright green neon sign and the words Untouchable etched on it. There's a gun in his hands as he flips it over- staring down at its model. Surprisingly enough, the usual owner who was very upset with him in multiple timelines isn't present here but if he learned enough about cognitions from the supposed future forseer of his world- he could probably make cognition percieve it to be a real gun, right?
He aims the gun at one of the policemen standing on the other side of the street rather callously, chin tilting as he regards the recoil he might endure if he actually fired a shot. The good thing was if he pushed his limits too much, he could just go back in time to the square again where he took the photo. As long as no real person is involved, it should be fine, right?
1
"Ah, yes, I did. Was I not supposed to?"
He's used to having pictures taken, of course, being the second Detective Prince and all, but he certainly wasn't expecting it here.
"Though... I must admit, I wasn't aware you were fond of photography... Are you an Amamiya-san or a Kurusu-san, if I may ask?"
no subject
"...You are a really polite cognition," he quietly commented. "If you are one." He keeps his camera aimed on him, his heart skipping a beat at the thought of remembering his own Akechi being like this the first time he met him. He wonders how long it will take in this timeline for him to break character.
He slightly lowers his camera to regard his question, realizing at last that he's real. The real Goro Akechi, dressed so prim and proper. "No need to be so formal, just call me Akira or if you are so inclined to keep distance you can go with a sharp Kurusu." He waggles his brows a little, his own little joke.
"Oh wait- are we going with codenames right now?"
no subject
"Kurusu-san, then. It's a pleasure to meet you."
The mention of codenames reminds him that he needs to give his own, and he quickly nods.
"Ah, yes. We use codenames here since so many versions of the same people tend to arrive. My codename is Dove."
And he just. keeps. smiling.
no subject
His smile is so blinding.
He wasn't sure if the Akechi in his own world was supposed to be this polite...then again its been ages since he kept up with that little detail. Or maybe that is his own way of dismissing Akira’s way of getting close as per usual- you never know what that sharp mind must be thinking.
"Dove, huh? The symbol of peace- that checks out pretty well." He shoves one hand in his pocket, making his camera's inside panel flip up as he takes a glance at the recent photo. "You do look like one in this shot as well," he goes back to attending to his camera- looking at the moment he just captured.
Of course he’s born photogenic. The wind carries his brown hair so elegantly with the glint of red peaking from those brown irises wrapped in shades of neutral. "A prince."
"Well too bad," he winks at him mischievously. "My codename is Kira."
no subject
"You flatter me so. I truly doubt the picture turned out to be that photogenic..."
Dove is a bit taken off guard by the choice of codename though, quickly gleaning the intent.
"Ah, no matter what, I'll be forced to use a variation of your name. Clever thinking, Kira-san. I must say, the thought hadn't occurred to me when I arrived here."
Perhaps he alert the other Akechi he met about this idea, a slight variation on his name...
no subject
"You could say the beauty lies in the eye of beholder," he answers with a straight face- his eyes obviously focused on him and occasionally drifting off to make note of the lighting he just used here.
He did take a good look at all of the codenames here so while his codename itself doesn't really work as one; he doesn't know what else would work in its stead. He isn't a demon, a vampire or a living robot- he's just someone.
"Someone special," he hears him say. "We are special, Kurusu-kun."
Kira-san isn't a term he was ready with, now placing a hand on his chest as he shakes his head. He didn't think he would have been put this far into the stranger-danger zone but ah well.
"...I have been sensing a pattern with the ones I have met here so far." He begins, recounting his interaction with Cybermask and Falcon. "...nevermind that it's just- have you been alright since you arrived here?" he asks slowly, a bit unsure on how to approach someone who has clearly filled some agenda in Igor's eyes like he did. Someone impressionable. Someone cursed or blessed with a fate beyond their reach.
no subject
But then he asks a question, and Dove pauses.
"...Well, I've had some interesting experiences since arriving here, but overall I've come out better for it, I believe. Though it's been... It's a rather long story, I'll admit. I could explain, if you would like."
His world and how far he's come since being freshly brought from it... He's changed quite a bit, he thinks.
no subject
So he's been here for quite some time. Interesting. He's curious on how being in a place with nothing to do can affect someone's character and mindset. In his case it always felt like he was struggling to catch up with time- watching it slip off from his hands like the rest of his ambitions and goals.
"Stories and memories are fragile, you know?" he offers him a small smile. "I am glad you were able to move forward with coming here- I have tried to do that for too long." He looks down at the ground then crosses his arms to his chest.
He shoots him a careful look. "Who are you really, Dove? I can't seem to place my finger on it but there is something I feel like...like its missing."
no subject
Dove can't help but shy away slightly, looking off to the side. His smile has all but faded, replaced by a more melancholic look.
"...You're very perceptive. As I said it's a long story, but... well, the truth of the matter is, my world and everyone in it were altered. A world that for all intents and purposes has no memory of experiencing anything resembling negativity or pain. That would include myself."
And he puts on another smile, and it's probably fairly easy to tell it's a bit strained as he looks back at Kira. At least, in comparison to the first smile he had.
"It was only after arriving here that I was truly able to experience negative emotions of any true form. The best I had before then was a discomfort of sorts... but it was enough to cause me to investigate."
And he knows, he knows he's missing so much. He doesn't remember his true past, the past that has been haunting him since his arrival here. His past as the Black Mask, the one he's been denying for far too long...
"...I don't remember my past, either. My true past, that is. Nothing but a happy slideshow of memories. I can't tell you how many of them are real, how many are false."
And yet he keeps that smile on, if not for Kira, then for himself. To try not to show too much weakness. To avoid letting too much of those negative feelings he has, and only barely understands out.
"So you may be sensing that difference from me and others. Whereas other people have a sense of themselves, their identities, and their feelings, I'm attempting to rediscover mine. That's what I've been achieving during my time here, thanks to the people I've met here."
no subject
So he was not just thinking unreasonably here, there truly was a catch to this Akechi here. He couldn't believe it but...that would make sense, wouldn't it? The uncanny perfection, the perfect smile- the balanced lilt of eyes...how much fun.
"I see," he nods along- understandings his point of viee to some extent. "It must have been difficult with your world view suddenly changing like that." He would know. He would know that very well.
"..."
Why couldn't he move on as well?He was so tired of doing this but everytime he closed his eyes he imagined all the victims who had fallen at the hands of Shido, all the people who were altered thanks to Maruki for a world where people's future will be manifested under his own hand; how could he give up like this? How could he give up to the thought of a young Akechi waking up to seeing his mother smiling brightly on the day where she killed herself?"I know I am no place to say this considering the fact that I just came here," he starts, his lips perking up just a tad. Not fo mention I am already ready to give up and leave," he doesn't say. "Don’t force that smile so much- I bet your face muscles hurt from holding that up for too long. Angry faces can come amazing in candid shots, take it from me..!"
no subject
"You could say that, yes. Learning things that you were so certain was merely fiction are real, learning of emotions you have no recollection of experiencing, learning that it isn't supposed to be this way is... well, it was a rather difficult experience, I will admit."
But there's the mention of being angry that stands out to him. The idea that it can look appealing in certain shots.
"Truth be told, I still haven't managed to entirely find comfort in my anger yet. Nor can I feel it every time it would be natural to. Sometimes it's incredibly intense, but others... It feels strangely numb, as though I know it's there, but I can't grasp it."
no subject
"I have reached a point in my life that nothing about is stable to the contrary," he scratches the side of his chin in response to Dove's comment about himself. His identity. "If I will be frank it never gets better either. It just...keeps getting worse if anything and now that I am stuck here- I don't know what to do when time is actually in my grasp now but I can't do anything."
He listens to him intently. The notion of him feeling strange and intense when he feels anger to the thought of growing numb to it. He doesn't like this conversation at all- it tickles him where he doesn't like. The mirror to his own actions where he has done so much that little things don't phase him like they used to do.
"You wanna see something?" He pulls out his phone this time, navigating across the rather minimalistic cat wallpaper as he opens his gallery and offers Dove to take a look at it. "I had like...hundred pictures like this though coming here it seems like I have lost a lot of it."
"That's him." He points at the top left picture. "I remember we were...having crepes I think and that Akechi was not ready to be caught on photo with cream on his lips. What I am trying to say is even if its not comfortable- I think its worth it."
"Say if you...do find anything about your memories...pictures, films or even cctv footage of those times- I could help you find some context." He knows he shouldn't do this but curse his nature. He thought he had given up on people. "If it helps you regain some of your memories that is."
no subject
"It sounds as though there's a lot on your shoulders. If there's anything I can do, please let me know. I would be glad to help you."
He takes a peek at the picture on Kira's phone, and and help but stare in a quiet curiosity. That really does look like him, and yet... not. As though a veil has been cast over it, distancing himself from the expression in front of him.
"...That's... me...? That's what I look like when I'm angry, then..."
He can't help but ponder on it for a moment, trying to visualize it in his mind. The idea that he has a similar expression on his face when he feels that feeling...
"...It's difficult to imagine it, but... I suppose you may be right. It's not a bad picture by any means."
And as for the offer to help with gaining context to his memories... Dove manages a small smile again.
"Thank you. I don't have any photos or anything of the sort from my original world, but I know Amamiya-san's phone remained intact with the change. I... have been meaning to return it to him, though."
1/2
His eyes darken for a moment as he doesn't even make eye-contact with Dove but hearing his words is enough to make him grow quiet for a moment. He has already told a few people about his powers but..he's not sure he is ready to tell him just yet. The fact that he has the power to change and is still stuck with the same fate- he is not ready for the judgement to follow through anytime soon.
Re: 2/2
"Oh no no, I am just uh...talking about the exams I was preparing for," he shakes his head. "Maybe I was being a bit dramatic with that- you could say I am one of the most boring Akiras here." He chuckles- letting normalcy flow through his speech as he waves his hand in dismissal. Its certainly interesting to see Goro Akechi be perplexed about seeing himself in photos rather than telling him to delete it a second later (he never deletes it).
"Its so cute," he can't help but remark. "Again, credit goes to me for this- I should really just give up on school and be a model photographer, don't you think?"
He hums at the mention of retaining his Amamiya's phone. He's honestly curious about how that Ren is coping with the fact that his entire existence is fictional or rewritten by someone else. That would have been something.
"To be honest, I am surprised enough if you would be able to retain stuff across world's...that's a task in itself," he nods to himself. "I hope he's doing alright- does he know about your uh-" his lips press together. "-Little predicament?"
no subject
"Ah, my apologies. I didn't mean to make any assumptions. It's perfectly all right if you don't have any special powers or anything of the sort. People don't grant the mundane life enough credit. The idea of a simple, peaceful life... I wouldn't mind such a thing, myself."
He smiles a little at the thought... but he can't help but frown a little at the idea of giving up school.
"Now that I simply can't agree with. Your education is important, you know. Even if you were to pursue photography as your passion, the things you learn in school will help you in everyday life. I cannot emphasize the necessity enough that you try to continue your schooling, Kira-san."
Despite the lecture, he seems well-meaning... though perhaps a tad holier-than-thou without intending so. He is from a world where troubles related to schooling just didn't happen, after all.
As for the question regarding his Ren though...
"He is aware of our circumstances now, yes. Though it's... complicated, to say the least. In reality he's fast asleep, unable to awaken. His sleeping spirit was brought here, to the Velvet Room, where he was able to learn about his situation. I'm currently seeking out a way to awaken him."
1/2
Akira was trying his best not to let his grin show at Dove's answer. Technically, he was right-! A normal in any of their lives would be an abnormality as a concept, judging from how fate treated them. Though with how this conversation was turning into, he couldn't help but actually smile this time. It was less sharp, more derpy as he tilts his head to regard his little lecture. The moment he finishes his statement, Akira is immediately planning to cut in between but then he stops. No, he shouldn't mention it just yet.
"Oh...that is a bit awfully convenient, huh?" he nods slowly. Having a sleeping spirit of Ren when someone is growing through a similar situation as Dove is something Kira would love to have. Again, he knows Dove has suffered as well but he's bitter. He's so bitter. He's bitter of every Akira or Ren being with their Akechi. If Igor was so intending on making bonds with others perhaps he should go into maybe bringing HIS Akechi back?! He doesn't like breaking time, its his fucking necessity. "I..I don't know how people actually awaken here but I guess I will be on a lookout on learning more. I am so new to all of this haha."
Re: 2/2
His lips curl into a mischievious grin as he brings a hand over to his mouth to conceal it. "Sorry, I know this is a bit off topic but I will have you know I had to repeat school 10 times." 20 times actually but he feels like Dove wouldn't believe him on that. "So uh, maybe photography is still my calling."
Maybe he was teasing for the sake of the holier-than-thou here.
no subject
"Truth be told, Ren hasn't quite been himself as of late. I'm hoping to help him return to his old self again."
It worries him, his Ren being like this. After all, he is such a symbol of hope and resolve to Dove that seeing him so hopeless and lost is just wrong. He has to bring back the Ren he knows!
Though Dove's train of thought shifts as Kira continues, and he actually looks a bit surprised at the idea of Kira attending school ten times. For a moment, he seems like he genuinely believes it, considering the insanity of the Velvet Room and the things he's experienced as of late.
...But his expression settles, growing a bit more lighthearted as he chuckles a little.
"You almost had me for a moment. So many strange things can happen here and in other worlds, I almost took it at face value."
Still, he doesn't mean to make fun of Kira, it's more just his own silliness he's laughing at.
"I suppose I can understand your sentiment though... In the end it's your choice on what you'd like to do, but I recommend giving it considerable thought before quitting your education entirely."
no subject
While the topic of Ren and this Akechi is depressing enough as is, he's a bit relieved he never went through something like that. Sleeping through a world going on without you, its his worst fears coming to life. "See it all depends on if he even wants to return. Some people make choices and the consequences can be..." he goes quiet, not really wanting to get to this topic now while he rubs the back of his head.
He needs to get out of here. Somehow. He doesn't know how but while these people can't escape their fate, he can and he will.
He has to.Kira carefully gauges his reaction, his jaw setting as if he were stomaching his own laugh behind his own throat as he watches him suddenly fall. He's so...he's so surprised! It's a little adorable, being clearly reminded of how his Akechi's eyebrow would twitch a little when he would run into a typo in a crossword. He stays quiet, watching Dove stumble a little to try and stay polite with him. The corner of his lips twitch and while the other is still recommending to continue his education, the dam breaks.
The boy laughs, his body shaking as his arms wrap around his chest before one of them come to attend to his mouth- a tear slipping from his eyelash before he raises his chin to look at him. "Sorry, sorry, you're just-" his eyes practically close as he realizes this is one of the few times he truly got to laugh like this; now that he wasn't following a script where he knew how and when the joke landed or how to react to it after some point.
"You're just too cute." He offers him a bright grin. "And polite- I was fully expecting you to be concerned or judgemental."
He sighs as he slowly recovers from his fit. "But okay...sure I will give my school an eleventh chance then."
"Hm, let's see," he grips his chin in deep thought. "Would you be my advising model then? If I were to go for photography?"
no subject
But as Dove nearly loses himself in his thoughts, he's snapped back to reality by the laughter... and one particular sentence.
'You're just too cute.'
At first he's just a bit stunned by the laughter, but as those words begin registering in his mind, he can't help but turn a very subtle shade of pink.
"I beg your pardon?"
Caught off guard, it's always the Rens and Akiras that do so... He can't help but find himself getting a strangely cheerful smile, regaining his composure as he does so.
"I suppose politeness is second nature to me. It's simply how I act. At least... it is now. I can't say for certain how I was before my memory was altered."
He doesn't really want to think too much about it right now.
"Your advising model, hmm? Now, I should warn you my only true experience with photography are pictures of meals and the rare selfie now and again... but I suppose that, hypothetically speaking, I would be willing to assist you."
1/3
"Promise me you will stop. Promise me you will give up."
His stomach falls.
Re: 2/3
He will always make mistakes. He will always miss by just a single bit.He can still hear Dove's words and while his smile is still held hostage on his lips, he feels like he is going to burst. He's going to break into little pieces and this time there will be no one to collect them.
Re: 3/3
"That would be...great!" he speaks through his teeth, not letting his anxiety slip through but then one hand slips over his mouth as he shakes off his own stupor. "Maybe you could start with criticizing me, it seems as good enough training to work on your degree of politeness."
"Oh great," he shakes his head. "I don't feel too well. I don't think I have really adjusted to this place, haha." This time the laugh is weak. "I think I will go home in a bit. Do you have anywhere to be?"
no subject
But he doesn't draw attention to it, and instead offers another polite smile.
"Ah, this would be a good way to practice giving more direct criticism. I'm not certain exactly how I would have done it before, but at the very least this will help me act more... naturally, I suppose."
Then the question of whether he has anywhere he needs to be has come up, and he pauses, thinking back on everything he has going on. There's Jinx that he's supposed to visit, but that's going on later in the evening...
"Not for a while, no. Why? Do you have something in mind?"
