[EVENT] 'Tis the Spooky Season...

Autumn is drawing on in the Velvet Room and its environs. The days are colder, the nights are crisper, leaves are a riot of colour ready to fall from the trees. And (besides all the pumpkin spice popping up for some reason) that means only one thing: Hallowe'en!

As the season approaches, you may undergo a mysterious transformation. Perhaps you wake up with wings, or hooves, or gills! Or perhaps your transformation will change more, go deeper... perhaps to your very soul. Who can tell? You might wake up as an animal, or a mythological creature. Or as anything at all.

Transformations will reverse on the morning of November 1st. ~~Probably.~~

In the meantime, Destinyland is celebrating the holiday. Cheerful Jack-o'-Lantern Shadows have set up on street corners, handing out flyers advertising the park's seasonal festivities. In the days leading up to the 31st, Destinyland will host all the usual fun: Hallowe'en games, Trick or Treat for the babies (and the not-so-babey), the Gorb fortune teller, Shadow-run food stalls serving spooky meals and treats, and, of course, the haunted house with its array of friendly, candy-giving Shadows. Or maybe they're not so friendly.

On the night of Hallowe'en itself, there will be a parade at the park and a grand party out in the main square with food, music, and plenty of space, though characters are not obliged to attend. However, if you wish to show off your new form, see what transformations have been wrought on your fellow guests, or simply take the chance to celebrate, it may be a good opportunity...

Who knows? Perhaps you'll even see some special guests.

"It would have been something to do with your hands, at least," he sighs in return, turning to ... sit awkwardly on the counter, just below the base of his tails. Damn, Boss would kill him if he could see that. Not to mention that Leblanc's usual cosy ambience is just as washed-out now as the selfie he tried to take for Ren this morning.

He offers Corvus a surprisingly-shadowed little fox grin. "It's not as if I can even drink coffee. Which is something of a pain. I already miss it."

Falcon sighs, annoyed. "Goddamn Igor- well, I don't know what I expected. Good for them, at least." He lifts up his own hand, and wiggles it around. "Seems I've been left alone too, thankfully."

Yeah, he's not exactly keen on a sudden modification to his body. He looks Raven up and down, taking note of all the differences.

... He's kinda cute, isn't he? Wait, no-

"He shouldn't do that shit," Falcon grumbles. "It's so- well. You know how I feel about it."

LMFAO I got talons too they are retractable tho [in reply to 2nd line]- Not to be edgy on main but i feel like I crave it? Kinda feel bad for my neighbours tho they just got incinerated like that. what creature are you?

Is he...hearing things?

"Talking cat...Mona? What are you talking about?" He looks at him like he just grew another extra head or is this another persona bullshit he didn't get to be part of in his own world. Honestly? If he had a ready persona he could have easily breezed through his current issue.

He's still thinking about what the other just said so when he comes to- his gaze flickers as he looks down at his hands and hums. "Should we...uh test it then?"

"Touché," Kou gives a weak grin back, "I don't know if that coffee tasted so shit because it was, or because..." He tugs at some of his fur. "... of this whole thing."

"You know, you do look striking, I've got to say." His smile becomes more of a smirk, gaining a foxy edge. As if he's not literally glowing, and more than half bushy golden tail. "The horns are an especially nice touch."

"Uh- huh?"

Kou looks up in surprise, taken aback by the sudden compliment on his... features. He's not sure what to think of it, considering they just kind of appeared without any input of his own.

When's the last time he received a compliment, anyway?

"Uh- Thanks," he says, looking away somewhat bashfully. "Your tails are... pretty, as well."

He feels a bit like a moron, but it's better than nothing, right?

Yeah, that cut a closer than he meant, by the look of things. He folds his hands—long furred fingers, annoying claws and pads—in his lap. "I'll take your word for it. I can't see them properly. I don't photograph well, because of the"—he indicates around himself, lifting a hand—"glow."

More seriously, he continues, "I see what people talk about, now. With the transformations. This is my first."

Akira carefully gauges the shadow who practically shakes under his touch and in truth- its his experience in mementos that really helped him get over the minor prefecture of coming across otherworldly creatures, feel the sharp sense of fear through him and proceed to turn around and avoid him altogether.

"...!" he notices the movement and sharply turns to narrow down his predatory gaze on whoever this is. Its possibly a Ren, judging from their abundance but he's not counting on it. "Is it your pet?" He asks- voice pulsating into a dozen blending into each other. "If not then why are you so concerned?" He keeps pushing, now absorbing the negativity pulsating around him. Its still not enough.

His clothes vapourize, giving way to a regal cloak as it materializes over his hoodie and the strawberry milkshake is long forgotten- dropped to the floor. The tattoos that show over the buckles and through the thin lining of his shirt crawl over his skin.

It's a very strange sensation. I feel small and enclosed, and yet I can simply will my desired messages and other such things onto my phone.

Though this does come with its own problems.

"Ah, that would explain your reasoning. I suppose it would make sense."

Dove can't help but find it slightly amusing, though he does his best to remain polite and keep it contained.

"Unfortunately, I don't believe I have anyone to blame for my own state."

Or at least he's not certain of it. Chances are that it's Maruki in this case.

Kou can't help but huff out a small laugh at that, still trying to shake off the earlier awkwardness.

"Yeah- can't imagine," he says, "being the source of a constant micro-sun sounds like a pain in the ass. And here I though the wings, tail, and horns were bad."

He squints a little as he looks back at Frog, consternation on his face.

"Wait- this is... a regular thing?"

"So it seems." It is a little consterning, to be honest. More than a little. "Before I got here, my Ren was turned into a child for a month or so. Nobody asked him, any more than we were all asked today. And there were... consequences."

He doesn't elaborate on what they were; on the depth of Ren's self-loathing afterwards, that had directly or indirectly led to his Palace. "Actually, that was at Hallowe'en, too. You have to wonder what the next trick will be."

As Kira begins trying to get the horn, he may notice the air around him has suddenly gotten colder. A strange, eerie stiffness about him that is only getting stronger as time passes.

It's strange, the presence may also seem vaguely familiar, and yet... different. Occult in nature.

The icy chill only grows stronger as the presence grows closer, and yet, there's currently no one visible.

As soon as he presses the trigger, the camera flashes- capturing the essence of the parade as he looks down at the photo. He's quite satisfied with how the darkness of the night envelops the bright parade and the shine of the instruments standing out against the otherwise supposed horror theme. Hm. Maybe he needs a more darker angle?

He doesn't get to think about a new idea for long as something creeps up behind him. His instincts are suddenly hiked up as he lowers the camera and looks around- squainting at the ride next to him. Its a merry-go-round with no one riding on its plush seats of live animals as they slowly circle around.

"Interesting," he hums as he shrugs and backs away from the ride. He has no interest in interactions; perhaps he should simply leave for now. However...

He casually places his hand in his pocket and pretends like his fingers aren't lingering over the gun tucked in his jeans. "A shadow?" He looks around and well- there's no one. Not at first glance atleast.

Oh, great.

So not only is he stuck in the fucking grief whiplash tower of terror, they can just mess with his body at a whim. Lovely. Wonderful.

"As if this shit didn't suck enough already," he hisses, looking away from Frog. "I can't imagine being an adult stuck in a kid's body."

Isn't having to see strangers wearing his brother's face enough?

"The strange thing is, I think he quite liked it," Goro murmurs, careful not to overshare. "As I think a lot of people are enjoying their transformations now, from what I can see. But there are also people who object intensely to it, to the idea that Igor can just—alter us. And I see their point."

Ren kisses the back of Goro's head. "Hiro's right, you know."

His tail starts wagging, too!! "Bark!" Yes! He's play-bowing!!

Ren's been following this strange, cold scent for a while...now he can see a weird figure...

Friend?

"He liked it," Kou deadpans.

Then, he sighs, awkwardly shaking his head. "Don't know what I expected, really. If he's anything like the one from back home, then I shouldn't be surprised. Hell- the guy fell in love with his would-be murderer, and then -if you can fucking believe it- he tried to hook up with me, of all people, as if I'd-"

His mouth clacks shut the moment he remembers it's not his Goro he's talking to, but a fake. Spooked by how easy it was to forget, he shoots the other a withering look, then quickly looks away again.

"... Anyway." He coughs.

She’s fine! She shakes herself out and sits facing Dove. “I think everyone got turned into something! Which is weird but it’s a little fun” her tail wags, of course she’s more curious than worried about this whole situation.

“Yeah, I can’t imagine being a ghost is fun, akechi-kun had to break the door down since neither of us have thumbs now!” Maybe walking through walls would make some things easier though!

And just like that—perhaps because it's just harder to mask your thoughts on an unfamiliar fox face—Goro's face falls visibly. Falling in love with your would-be murderer, indeed.

"Anyway," he agrees. As if it had stopped him, Goro. Some things go beyond life and death. But Corvus isn't interested in his own Ren, then?

"It doesn't sound like he impressed you too much?" Ren, he means. That's... odd.

Of course, Ren has to follow Special Friend on this new game of Follow The Leader!

But at the bathroom door, Magpie turns, giving wolf-Ren a glare that could bring down nations. "You may not come in. Stay!"

With that, he tries to shut the door behind him. Ah, blessed freedom. (?)
