Training
[Backdated to an indeterminate number of days ago. Context here.]
After the apparition of the training room and the elaboration of the schedules, all those part of the team to take down the evil Ken Amada are surely spending a lot of time in it. If you are one of those members, the question is... what are you doing in there?
A. Solo training
There are plenty of reasons to train solo. Maybe you are building up stamina so that you can have your Persona summoned at all times. Maybe you are working on your defenses. Maybe you are trying to get one of your Personas to make you fly. One thing is for certain: there is a lot to do!
[Toplevels using this prompt are ideal to invite anyone to join your character, maybe even with their own subprompts so people can walk in on different kinds of training!]
B. Sparring
Combat readiness involves, well, actual combat. It is not surprising to see team members spar with each other to ensure they are in top form.
[You can have open toplevels to invite anyone to spar, or you can lock them to specific characters.]
C. Training with Ken
Everyone on the team has scheduled training sessions with Ken, to be able to see and learn how to face the deadly abilities he shares with his evil counterpart.
[These ones are necessarily closed threads. You can come solo or in small groups of characters, indicate this in the toplevel.]

...can't ignore this.
It vaguely reminded him of how he has been hearing things about an old friend of his as well. "I see," his eyelids drooped. "That is good enough motivation as any, I suppose. I don't really have that sort of multiversal connection with any of you just yet, well aside from Dr Maruki."
And he left it at that, for now. He had a lot to think on that matter.
"His connection to Nyx...which is a whole can of worms I know in theory even if I really don't understand the whole alien being bullshit- what I do know is that he's a threat. We can't let him run free like this."
no subject
There's a lot to consider, to be afraid of.
"This is... even harder than facing off against some faceless entity."
no subject
Still.
"I had talked to him online you know?" Zenkichi looked away, releasing a deep sigh. "Asking me what the future was like. There really is...something deeply human about him."
He wanted to push. Ask her if it was because he had her friend's face which made it all the more difficult for her to even think about landing the killing blow.
He didn't let those words linger for long, sighing as he adjusts his coat over his shoulder properly- letting the dark tailcoat that Akane had teased Hamuko about flourish as he gestured with a nod. "If you are really going through with this I wouldn't mind a sparring partner. Keeps your mind clear, after all."
"Though...uh, well Igor apparently doesn't play favourites with actual adult persona users so I am no wildcard. I should stil be able to keep up with your personas but...just a heads up, I suppose."
no subject
But what Zenkichi was saying... the fact that Fatalis was still curious, still... Ken.
"...He said that... his foster families were physically violent with him. That things were so bad, and..." she trailed off, resting her head in her hand uneasily. "It doesn't excuse it. It can't. But I understand what it feels like when the adults around you fail you. ...I would never have taken the deal offered to him, but... I can see why he did. That bothers me."
no subject
He was about to go further on what kind of training she's planning to catch up on but..stops anyway. She didn't wish to bury the conversation just yet- that much was clear.
"Jesus christ..." he can't help but murmur which says a lot since he knows that aspect is just the tip of the iceberg. "Getting back at the adults who failed you, ruined your life...I understand that too but nothing comes close to justifying the scale of it."
"Nothing makes it okay for him to lash out his anger at other innocents. They are victims in their own right and he's denying them their justice by controlling them with fear."
no subject
Hamuko shook her head. That talk with him still made her hair stand on end. It was uncanny, seeing and hearing that come from Ken Amada...
"...The fact that a fragment of the Death Shadow saw him, and... took advantage of him... took over his body and piggybacked off of his rage until he became that... it makes me sick. It didn't have to be this way. He's... he's my friend. He fixated on trying to figure out how to make and like coffee. He has a pet hamster that he asked me to look after. I'm so... disgusted... with what happened."
no subject
And then the way she recounts a different version of him...that line of thought is so so dangerous. Its the idea that he could have ended up a certain way had the world not been so cruel to him, if he allows her to ponder over it anymore than necessary she's going to become helpless.
After a beat of silence he regards her, raising a brow behind his mask. She doesn't even seem all too convinced to join the team and the last time he checked the list hadn't been updated though maybe Akane would know better.
"Are you sure you're up for this?"
He didn't let that question of doubt linger for long. "I know you have achieved far more in your world but what matters is right now you can't afford to hesitate." He sighs, adjusting his hat up a little as it threatened to crowd over his vision.
His gaze flicked down to her naginata, then back to her, unreadable. A pause. “If you are ready, then pick it up. You don’t fight battles by standing around thinking about how unfair they are.”

TW: suicidal imagery
He chuckles.
I can steer us back to how things should be, Zenkichi.
Believe in my cause. Even if I am not a commissioner anymore, if we survive this...there will be hope.
"Kill...?" He starts and there's a sad sort of amusement in that tone. As if he were just handed a gun to shoot himself with. "That's your first mistake."
"If you choose to use that word you won't be able to lift a single finger without regret."
He turns around and watches Hamuko's form, now resting his greatsword on his right shoulder again with a smirk. "And I am sure you wouldn't want to turn into a lousy old robo- cyborg carrying whiskey around just to feel something by carrying that sentiment."
no subject
"Is that how you're persisting? Filled with regret?"
She didn't need to be training her naginata skills - Fatalis was completely immune, after all. But holding the weapon got her in the right headspace. Got her subtly amped up, her Personas perking up in her mind.

"My life could have been better," he shrugs. "As I am sure looking at those who harbour personas you can't exactly...come to terms with yourself without the disturbance of it."
...keep your daughter safe. She will come to understand one day, I know she will.
Kaburagi.
His smirk sobers up a little, a resigned smile on his face.
"I think of it as freeing them."
"That even if I was too late to save them...they will see it. At the end. Someone finally freed them from themselves."
He brought one foot forward, stretching one leg in an arc on the solid ground- keeping his greatsword ready to attack. "Come on, just because I am a little older than you doesn't mean I am going to croak." His smile sharpened, provoking a little.

"I can tank it."

Right... that's right.
Ken Amada needs help. He needs to get out of that bond with a fragment of Nyx. He needs to rest, finally - he's suffering, alone, even if he doesn't acknowledge it.
Hamuko's gaze sharpens as she stares Zenkichi down. Hesitation abated, resolve strengthened - if Wolf could do what needed to be done and release someone suffering, even if it was someone he loved... then Hamuko could do the same.
Let's get your heart pumping then, Wolf-pop.
The teen stared in an intense focus, slowly circling and tightening her arms like a mantis about to strike, before she takes a single step forward and plunges the polearm towards her sparring partner without remorse.
no subject
That thought didn't linger for long as the polearm comes his way.
Wolf moves, foot shifting to the left as he swings his greatsword forward, swinging it as it locks with the polearm, deflecting its trajectory all too easily. Predictable.
He moves forward- pushing the now askew Naginata with his flat greatsword to either make Hamuko drop the weapon or find herself all too close to the sharp edge of his blade. Unless of course she plays a different play.
"Hmm," he hums- his voice even. "Think we should be practising with our elemental magic instead. How far are we pushing?"
no subject
"Gotta warm up or you'll pull a muscle!" Hamuko teased. "Aim at me right back - my healing is more than enough to take whatever your steak knife can dish out."

Good. If that attack had done its number then that would be all too worrying, wouldn't it? The blade knicks away at the flares of his own coat in the middle as he makes a low- "Woah-!" sound and gets back into position.
At Hamuko's teasing he rolls his eyes. "I have barely any muscle in me, you brat."
The sword was easily held out in his right as he carefully began to circle her. The steak knife comment made him bristle in annoyance. "I will give you a point for attempting to probe me. You should probably not do that in battle with Fatalis however."
With that he finally moved close and raised his sword again, this time a certain glaze in his eyes as he swung his sword with both hands-

A guaranteed pressure that would rattle away anyone's defense. Hamuko might find herself on the other end of his now falling blade.

In that quick exchange, Hamuko released one hand to grip and pull her Evoker, leaping back and pulling the trigger in a smooth motion to force out Messiah, casting God's Hand to strike at Zenkichi.
It wouldn't matter for Fatalis, but she had a lot of training to do and her stamina was a lot harder to recover than anything else!
no subject
With a grunt, he twisted his grip, wrenching the hilt of his greatsword up and pivoting on his heel. The handle caught Hamuko square in the chest—not enough to knock her down, but enough to throw her balance.
Yet before he could press the advantage, she was already moving, flipping backward, hand darting for her Evoker.
His instincts flared. Tch—!
The shot rang out, and in an instant, a towering golden fist manifested, crashing into him like a freight train. His cybernetic frame groaned under the weight of God’s Hand, boots skidding back through the dirt. He grit his teeth, muscles bracing against the impact, but—there was no reason to deny it. The strike hurt.
A second later, he was back on his feet, exhaling through his nose as he rolled his shoulders. So she’s pulling out the big guns already, huh? High-level physical skills like that were a damn problem. That meant he needed to shift gears.
No hesitation. The greatsword vanished from his grip, seamlessly replaced by twin revolvers, their sleek, custom-made frames catching the light.
"Valjean!"
A ripple of blue light surrounded him as his Persona manifested, its form crackling with energy. The cognitive-engineered mechanism attached to his upper revolver glowed faintly, syncing to his mask’s HUD. Forever active.
His grip tightened.
A split second later-
BANG!
Megidola bullets shot forward, pure almighty energy tearing through the space between them. He barely gave Hamuko a second to react before he leapt, twisting midair, firing three more rounds in rapid succession. No room to breathe. No room to hesitate.

Have to keep Messiah SUMMONED--
But there were mere fractions of a second, and she took that hit to keep moving to strike him, swinging her blade up to catch him in the arc of his jump.
no subject
His eyes widened, mask once again doned into flames as he shifted away from the attack, his hat barely catching the tip of the blade as it flicked off his head. He rolled away from her, accessing her next move- slotting the bullets back into position as they click in his revolver.
no subject
Messiah summoned again, and she holstered the evoker as swiftly as she could. Keeping the persona out was a challenge she hadn't had to handle before.
The Almighty shots had hurt, she was bruised and bleeding for sure, but she waited - she had a lot more she could take before she decided to deplete her stamina further.
"You're fast! You definitely remind me of Aigis."
