[Visitors to the Velvet Room are in for an unusual sight.

Gorb balloons. Streamers. Banners that not only read, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GORO AKECHI! but also...

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FRIENDSHIP!

This particular banner has cutesy illustrations of a normal Akechi and Falcon. Yes, really.

There are multiple, multi-layered cakes. One is an angel food cake, decorated to resemble Robin Hood. Then there's another cake, fashioned after Loki, with lovingly decorated dazzle camouflage frosting. Inside is a heavenly red velvet.

Lastly, there's a purely chocolate delight, patterned after Hereward.

There are even little Gorb cupcakes, designed to look like the myriad Akechis resident in the Velvet Room. Fresh brewed coffee and Jazz Jin mocktails await those who seek a beverage, and there's even some curry. How thoughtful!

Phoenix stood nearby, surveying the assortment with a more than slightly-critical eye.

"I call bullshit. I didn't get a special Velvet Room party with cake and ice cream when I maxed my first Arcana."

Falcon turns to Phoenix, unimpressed.

"I didn't ask for this, you know." He huffs, looking at the... decorations, if that's what you'd like to call them, in distaste. "This is... outrageous."

"Never said you did," he shrugged. "It does seem a little tacky to drag out that private business into the open, honestly, but that's the MO around here, so I'm not that surprised."

He clapped a hand on Falcon's shoulder. "Bad jokes aside, I am actually happy for you. And for lack of a better term, happy birthday to you, too."

[gorobo]

"It pisses me off, is what it does," he huffs, "it's none of their business--"

But then, Falcon flinches visibly when Phoenix claps his hand on his shoulder, freezing for a few moments as baseless anxiety courses through his circuits at the sudden, unexpected contact. His sensors are on alert, registering the touch.

It's just Phoenix. It's just Phoenix.

"... Yeah. Sure," he says, loosening himself up a little again, "thanks. Happy birthday to you too, huh."

When Falcon tensed, he immediately released, holding his hands up. "That's on me, I was being thoughtless. But yeah, I guess it is."

He paused, ruminating on that for a moment. "I hadn't honestly given the occasion much thought, but now it comes to it- there anything you'd like?"

He does visibly relax the moment Phoenix lets go, letting out a small, robotic noise of gratefulness. He pulls himself together, before replying.

"Other than for Shido to explode on the spot in every single universe?" he says, only a little sardonically, "... I don't know, really."

"That is a lie and--"

He knows it, Hereward, yeah, yeah, but many of the things he wants are impossible. No point bringing down the mood to voice them.
