HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

[Visitors to the Velvet Room are in for an unusual sight.

Gorb balloons. Streamers. Banners that not only read, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GORO AKECHI! but also...

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FRIENDSHIP!

This particular banner has cutesy illustrations of a normal Akechi and Falcon. Yes, really.

There are multiple, multi-layered cakes. One is an angel food cake, decorated to resemble Robin Hood. Then there's another cake, fashioned after Loki, with lovingly decorated dazzle camouflage frosting. Inside is a heavenly red velvet.

Lastly, there's a purely chocolate delight, patterned after Hereward.

There are even little Gorb cupcakes, designed to look like the myriad Akechis resident in the Velvet Room. Fresh brewed coffee and Jazz Jin mocktails await those who seek a beverage, and there's even some curry. How thoughtful!

He had completely forgotten it was his birthday with everything going on. He turned up for maybe a few cupcakes, one to take back to Ken. Then he saw there was a lot of other, older, versions of him. He really hadn't talked to much outside of his age group.

It wouldn't hurt to look around would it? Maybe he could make new friends. He got a pice of cake and looked around, not sure how to start any conversation.

Raven approaches with a smile when he spots the familiar face. It's always good to see him out and about. "Ah, Jay. How are you today?"

He smiled at the boy. "Good, thinking about bringing cupcakes back to Ken." There's plenty anyways. He thinks Ken would laugh at them.

"Happy birthday, to us, I guess," he laughed.

"I'm still going to have my own celebration later, but... I can't exactly turn down free refreshments." He chuckles right back, eyes on the cupcakes. "But yes, happy birthday to you as well."

"So you get to be fancy and have your own party do you?" He teased.

"I wonder where the orb version of us came from."

"Well, I'm sure no one would object if you do the same." His smirk only sharpens... At least for a moment.

The talk of the... ugh, Gorbs, gives him pause.

"Frankly, I'm not sure I want to know whose twisted mind concocted those orbs."

"I think they are cute. Look just a round little guy." he said holding one up. It was quite fun to tease Raven.

He may have his own party, but since he wasn't as popular it would probably just be him and Raven, and Ken.

"And then you remember that they're food." He snorts, eyeing the innocent, frosted faces. "Rather a morbid treat. But then, the same can be said of Easter candies or chocolate Santas..."

"Yeah, there's always things like this. Eating people seems to be something people are a fan of. Since it's us, it makes sense to be us."

Oh, there's another little one of her son here? Akako sets down her armfuls of gifts on the table and can't help herself from letting out a coo. "Hello there, handsome young man!"

That voice! His eyes filled with wonder. "Mama!" He shouted full of excitement as he ran to her, he didn't imagine he'd run into her here. She was though!

"Goro-kun!!" Oh, her heart... she can't help it. She reaches out with both hands to her child, tossing aside the gifts. "How are you doing, Goro-kun?"

"Mama, I've missed you," he said smiling while a few tears rolled down his cheeks. He nuzzled into her. "I'm okay, my friend is sad and I've been trying to cheer him up, just like you taught me," he was proud of himself for being strong like she wanted.

Oh, oh... Akako kneels down to envelop her little son in her yukata, wiping at his tears, gently, gently. "You're so strong. Stronger than anyone I know. You're such a smart and kind son...I'm so proud of you."

"Thank you, mama," She was so sweet and so warm. He missed her so so much.

Akako hugs him tighter. "I love you so much. Such a smart and great son..."

"I know Mama, are you alright?" he asked being squished now. He was worried about how she was doing since he was so tight against her.

While Jay had began preparing himself to socialize, Wolf glanced down at the wide range of desserts. He ended up picking a small cupcake in his hand, its bright frosting striking out against his dark gloved hand.

As he moves back, he ends up bumping into something. "Ah, watch it-!" He quickly turns away before he could have done more damage, now blinking at the small child. The training must have exhausted him it seems and with so many people here, his sensors must be getting confused.

Oh this was...a young Akechi, wasn't it?

He brings his hand up to his face before he can help it, moving his collar up to conceal the scar running down his eye. The kids in his world always found him daunting and scary like that-! He needed to be careful not to spook this one.

Jay stared up at him. "Sorry for running into you," he said softly. He was wondering why the other seemed to be on edge, it was just a party. He seemed embarrassed too. That must be why he hid himself.

"My name is Jay, what's your name?" He asked offering his hand like a true adult did with their introductions. He was so proud of himself.

Oh, great he really is staring at him like that. Does he not find him threatening- walking around with his eyes concealed behind a solid mask and a rugged scar running like he just recently escaped the jaws of death.

Then again...with a place like this, you are bound not to hold much of a candle to things.

Raising a brow at the offered hand, Zenkichi paused before taking it in his own. "Call me Wolf..or I guess in a place like this you would probably run into junior here, huh?"

"Zenkichi Hasegawa."

"Yeah, I think that name is taken," he laughed smiling at him. He had a nice handshake. that's something his mom told him was important. It told more than people did. If they were business people, if they only were there to impress. There was a lot to read in a hand shake.

He seemed to be hiding his face, not that it would scare him with Ken's scars becoming more and more showing. He was just a pleasant boy wasn't he Zenkichi? "Are you very new here?"

"Eh, we have come up with a little truce," he shrugged, maybe. "Can't really mistake me for an Akechi now, can we?"

There was barely any resemblance between him and the younger boy who held as much spite to power up a whole city...if he couldn't already do it, given his powers.

Well, whatever it is, the kid seemed to be a veteran so Zenkichi eased up, noting his handshake. Kids here and their insistence of having iced tea and coffee like a grown up adult was almost endearing; but it didn't exactly help when he's seen why the lot of them acted that way.

He won't rain down on this kid's parade though.

He tilts his head at the question. "Hm? Do I look that out of place?" he set the plate of desserts down for now- grasping a cupcake in his hand. "I have been here for a while. Since December I believe? I did make a post on the network about it- that sure took a whole turn."

"Happy birthday, by the way," he adds a little awkwardly. "Not sure if you are tired from hearing about it or just that its way too late for me to address it- but you know, better late then never."

"You don't look that out of place, there's a lot of strange people here." He was just the most adult person he's seen. Or talked to. He was the only one with facial hair. He wondered if he would grow any like that when he got older.

He smiled. "Thank you, it's just nice to be told it." There wasn't much at home that made his birthdays special. Just his mom and Ren. This party was a huge step up, they never had parties they were too poor.

"What's special about you? Do you have a cool backstory?"

"Yeah?" He smiles at the boy's appreciation. Welp, as long as he isn't being awkward then he can still get along with others here then. Better than nothing.

Though what this Akechi says next makes him freeze up a bit. "Backstory? What is this- a comic book?"

"Well, some people here are murderers, or dragons, or things like that. You look like you have a good story before coming here. So I wanna know about it."
