There's a new presence in the shadows of the Velvet Room tonight.

For a while, there's no obvious sign of this... presumably a person, just the feeling that something is watching from the darkness, listening to whatever cryptic platitudes Igor's spouting about the place tonight. Eventually, though, the presence announces itself as... an Akira, looking at the conspiracy board.

Or maybe he's a Ren? (He's both. He's neither. He's pretty sure Igor is the closest to a familiar entity here. Making connections? That's not going to be a problem at all.)

"...I have no idea what most of this means," he's forced to conclude after several minutes. "Cool."

He smiled, "Akira then. It's what mine is called." He seemed used to strange things, better than when he joined. "I can guess that you know who I am."

"You're Crow, except you're human, so you're not my brother."

So yes, but at the same time, a resounding no.

Brother, that's not what he expected. Not really at all, that wasn't a thought he was going to put much into, blissful ignorance. "Yeah, someone's already taken the brother card." not that there couldn't be more of them, but he's only willing to deal with one sibling.

Akira shrugs. "Well, at least you're not stuck dealing with the vulture alone, if that much of the story rhymes."

He tilted his head, "vulture?" Was that a name for their parent? Oh god did they share the same father? That would be a horrible twist of fate.

"Your bastard father?"

No, they do not share any genetics. Akira's far too old for that, for one thing.

"Ahh, then yes. Futaba helps plenty with that. I'm very lucky." He hummed happily. It was a very nice thought not being alone unlike most of the others he's run across.

"Good. He's too slippery to deal with alone."

If Akira and Crow are struggling, after all...

"That I can't agree enough with." he sighed. "He's far too careful even with his head up his ass."

"Everyone knows his name, but no one knows who he is. It's frustrating." Sooner or later he'll find what he needs, but in the meantime he's going to be annoyed about it.

He laughed for a moment, just the broken one he had. "God, isn't it ever. I wish more people knew."

"I'm working on it. A lot's going to come down to what Crow wants to do once we have the information we need, but I'm working on it." It'd be too dangerous for Crow to fish around himself, and Akira doesn't mind shouldering the load.

It's just really aggravating that no one actually has the information he needs.

He shouldn't have assumed that they would have the same ambitions. "That's a fair point. Is he concerned about the safety?"

"Because of the bindings involved, there's only so much Crow can do himself without landing in trouble for it. The vulture doesn't know about me, though, so I'm fishing for information where I can. Then Crow gets to decide what his vengeance looks like."

That there will be vengeance was never in question.

"Futaba decides ours, she was quick to point out how dumb of a plan I had, and came up with her own." He sighed.

"He's lucky to have you then, it beats being alone."

"It really does. I know what it is to be bound to a life you hate." It only took saving Crow's life three separate times for him to accept Akira wasn't going anywhere, but he got there in the end.

He hummed, "I'm sorry you have to experience that pain. I don't wish it on most people."

"Oh, I got out of that name a long time ago. But it doesn't mean I know the feeling any less, or that I've been inclined to let Crow suffer alone since I met him. Convincing him I was sticking around was the difficult part."

hold on name? that's a weird thing to say. Now that he thought about it a lot of what he said was strange. "Sticking around is the hard part of a lot of people."

Not a weird thing to say if it's true.

"Maybe so. Good thing I'm stubborn, then."

He nodded. "The lot of you are. Seems to be something that sticks across the universe." Then he laughed, "stubborn as you." Damn futaba for his sense of humor. She would have enjoyed that one.

"Good. You clearly need someone to push back in your life."

Even if Akira's not sure what to make of the whole 'often romantic connection' thing, but to each their own.

"I'm sure someone would agree with you there. I think I'm perfectly fine as I am." He tried joking, though it was somewhat what he thought.

Akira laughs. "I'm sure you do."

So did Crow. So did Akira himself, once, a name ago.

"You seem easy to adjust to strange situations." he tilted his head in interest. "Do they happen often for you?"
