"Oh, what the fresh fuck is this."

Next to Shinji, Koromaru whines. He has no idea either, but it doesn't smell dangerous.

Shinji sighs. "Good to know, I guess..." He maneuvers his coat around in his hands until he can reach in the pocket - okay, keys are still there, he should be able to duck back out to Liminal Space whenever he wants. Cool.

Now to figure out what the fresh fuck this is.

He ignores Igor entirely, and almost does the same to the conspiracy board until the word 'Tartarus' jumps out at him. Well, shit, that's not a good sign. Oh well. At least he knows where he stands with the Dark Hour, and he's actually way better equipped to handle it than the last time he had to.

Anyway, that gets him to stop long enough to scan the information, and then he's off to Iwatodai. Reading can only tell you so much, after all. Actually seeing what's out there is going to work a hell of a lot better.

The good news is Shinji can just shrug it off. "Not a big deal."

Koromaru barks. Hi new person!

And there's a dog! Huh, he wasn't aware dogs could appear in the Velvet Room...

"I haven't seen you two before. Have you been here very long?"

He keeps up a pleasant smile as he asks that.

Koromaru's just special like that.

"Just turned up today."

Ah, fellow newcomers then...

"Well, you're in good company. I've only been here for a few days myself. Allow me to welcome you. Please call me by my codename, Dove."

His smile has grown slightly larger, and is a bit too pleasant.

"Did you read the board in the Velvet Room? It has a lot of information that seems to be relevant."

"Some of it. Mostly because it said the Dark Hour's a fucking thing again."

The Dark Hour... That phenomenon here in Iwatodai. He still hasn't gotten to see it with his own eyes.

"It seems that each of the areas here have their respective 'phenomenon' present. The Dark Hour for Iwatodai, some kind of 'TV world' for Inaba... and then there's the one I'm most familiar with, Mementos, which can be found in Tokyo."

It's curious that they're all here... Is it something to do with the cognitive nature of the space? Is it deliberately set in place?

"I haven't heard much about the Dark Hour, truth be told. Just that a hidden hour begins once the clock strikes midnight, and the tower known as Tartarus appears during that time."

"And it's supposed to be gone, according to Minako, so seeing that it's back again..." It's concerning, okay. But if the moment Igor chose to show everyone was 2009, and not later than that, it makes sense. But it's still concerning.

"Name's Shinji. That's Koromaru."

"I understand your concern. Mementos should no longer be accessible in my own world, and yet it's here. I can only guess it's related to the nature of the Velvet Room."

The nature of which he admittedly hasn't figured out yet, especially since it's so different from the one he has access to at home.

But he does need to respond to their introduction, which he does.

"It's a pleasure to meet you both."

He looks back down at Koromaru, and he can't help but smile a bit more.

"...Is petting acceptable?"

Koromaru barks. Petting is very acceptable!

"Sounds like a yes to me."

And even Dove can't resist the urge to break out into a smile, and kneel down to pet Koromaru. He begins scritching behind his ears.

"You are such a good boy...! Yes, you are...! And so soft...!"

Oh no, he's given into the cuteness and all pretense of sophistication has gone by the wayside.

In a minute he's going to regret it, but for now it's time to pet the dog.
