Okay. Well. Ken had to admit that, when he went to bed last night, he did not expect to wake up in a blue room and be welcomed by a long-nosed man. He would have thought that it was a dream, but he's been in enough of them to know it's nothing of the sort. This place had a dinstinct, strong feeling, not quite reality, but much firmer than a dream.

He wasn't certain he could trust Igor-san yet, if he was perfectly honest. But in the case that he was not lying... it was actually great news. The real world was rough, currently, with Yuki-san being...

...

Well, a pause to make new friends couldn't hurt. Especially since he was learning again, learning to be alive, learning to live for himself, like Aragaki-san had asked him to. He couldn't let him down, not in a million years.

Malicious or not, Igor-san was right. He needed bonds. And he would make them.

Someone may meet this Ken...

1) while reading the information board. Even if being here seemed to overall be a good thing, that did not mean throwing caution out of the window. He needed information, and the kind soul having put together this compilation would save him a lot of time.

2) in Iwatodai, Ken being curious to see if the dorm SEES stayed at was still a thing in this strange place.

'Well, that didn't make any sense. Thanks for nothing, weird old man,' is what he thinks.

"Ah, I see," is what he says, smiling at the long-nosed, bug-eyed old man sitting in the middle of the strange blue room he's found himself in, "thank you very much for your warm welcome. I appreciate your introduction."

Despite his near perfect disguise as a human, Goro's ultimately mechanical body bows politely, as if he'd gained any valuable information from this, instead of being spoken at nonsensically. What the hell is this place? The Velvet Room? Forming bonds? Concern about the place from which he came? As far as he's concerned, this is all looking like it's going to be a huge headache.

Still, his scanners indicate that this is... not quite like the Metaverse, but something like it? The strangeness of it all certainly makes more sense when he looks at it that way. It's a place outside of his normal reality, that's for certain, though when he tries to recall the memories of how exactly he ended up here, all he gets back is some glitchy static that makes his limbs twitch. Fun! Lovely! Shido-san is going to want to know about this!

He blinks away the intrusive thought, the only indication of his upset as he looks around. Internally, he sighs, already resigning himself to figuring out how this place can be useful to Shido-san. He has better things to do, technically, but apparently, it's not like he's gone in his own world, so it's not like it'll really make a difference, either. Who knows? Maybe exploring this place will prove useful, in the long run. He's not sure what kind of 'bonds' he's expected to make, if any at all, though maybe finding someone and speaking to them may prove fruitful.

... Sure. That sounds logical enough. He's not exactly eager to hand yet another boon over to Shido, but it's not like he can refuse either. He's already here, after all. Not to mention, he is curious...

Hmm... usually, he's forbidden from leaving Tokyo. These doors lead to places outside of Tokyo, but since this is Metaverse related, perhaps he can try to...?

When he does not receive an internal error (though he's not sure if he's exactly happy about that), he opens one of the doors...
  1.  ... and ends up in a city, which his internal GPS immediately pings as Iwatodai. From his databases, he knows the Kirijo Group has many connections here, which immediately sets him on edge. His body, however, does not react to his internal distress, nor the vague impulse to return to the Velvet Room already, and sets out to explore.
  2.  ... and finds himself in the middle of a shopping district... filled with closed shops. He gets pinged with "Yasoinaba" for a location. It's surprisingly quiet, but he finds that he doesn't mind all too much. Eager to find out what's so special about this town in particular for it to show up here, he starts walking around.
  3.  ... and ultimately decides that he should familiarize himself with the Tokyo of this strange place. At first glance, it seems to be mostly normal, but the 'supernatural' feeling from before lingers. Legs moving near-automatically, he finds himself strolling towards LeBlanc.

Ken Amada was barely listening while Igor made his introductory speech, his mind occupied by a more pressing question: "what's going on?". This place made no sense at all, and he certainly had no idea of how he ended up there. The last thing he remembered was going to bed...

Oh, a dream! That made sense. This was a dream.

(Even though his senses were screaming at him that it was wrong wrong wrong, and his mind was yelling that this is not a dream this is not a dream this is not a dream)

This place was making him feel uneasy however, and he would rather avoid this unpleasant feeling to last until he woke up. So he walked towards one of the doors leaving the room, his steps unconsciously guiding him towards the one that felt the most familiar to him... and ended up in what looked like Tatsumi Port Island. Huh. Well, it is known that dreams take inspiration from real-life memories.

(But this was not a dream, not a dream, and his senses were still screaming that the place was wrong, although it did not feel as wrong as the previous room)

Since this uneasy feeling was not willing to leave him be, he decided to wake himself up. He's had more than enough nightmares to know the routine by now, it was almost as natural to him as breathing air. He'd be up in two seconds.

Or not.

(Because this is not a dream, not a dream, look at this place, look at you, it's real, it's wrong, it's fake, it's not a dream not a dream)

The fog that was clouding his brain finally lifted, and a moment of clarity and dreadful realization hit Ken all at once. He had wrapped himself inside the nice, comfortable thought that this was a dream to not face reality. The truth was, what Igor had said was correct. He had somehow been transported in a weird world in order to "make bonds".

Anger seized him suddenly. Was that a sick joke? He finally had a drive, a motivation, something to push himself forward and cling to the miserable mockery of life he had left, and now he was robbed of even that?! Flung somewhere else, with no end date in sight, to... what? Make friends in Care Bears World? All other people ever felt about him were condescension and pity. Why would he willingly submit himself to such a thing?

He could feel tears well up in his eyes, but he refused to cry. Crying was childish, crying was weak, crying was an invitation to be pitied, or worse, to be taken advantage of. He would not cry. His breath accelerated. He would not cry. He sat down on a sidewalk, back against a wall. He would not cry. He did not cry. He knew by now how to hold the tears in, wiping the few traitorous ones that had formed themselves anyway.

A thin trickle of blood left from the right corner of his mouth. He had been working himself up too much. This was not good for his health. He needed to calm down before worse things happened. Deep breath. He needed to calm down. Deep breath. He closed his eyes. Deep breath.

"Oh, what the fresh fuck is this."

Next to Shinji, Koromaru whines. He has no idea either, but it doesn't smell dangerous.

Shinji sighs. "Good to know, I guess..." He maneuvers his coat around in his hands until he can reach in the pocket - okay, keys are still there, he should be able to duck back out to Liminal Space whenever he wants. Cool.

Now to figure out what the fresh fuck this is.

He ignores Igor entirely, and almost does the same to the conspiracy board until the word 'Tartarus' jumps out at him. Well, shit, that's not a good sign. Oh well. At least he knows where he stands with the Dark Hour, and he's actually way better equipped to handle it than the last time he had to.

Anyway, that gets him to stop long enough to scan the information, and then he's off to Iwatodai. Reading can only tell you so much, after all. Actually seeing what's out there is going to work a hell of a lot better.
