It's been some time now since Dove has been seen out and about in the Velvet Room, which may be a bit concerning to those who know him. He's at absolutely none of his well-known spots, and his apartment has no trace of him either.

Where could he be? Did he go home? But no one has even received a text from him...

--

Meanwhile, others may encounter a young boy throughout Tokyo... A small lad, with short hair and red eyes, and a white shirt with proper black pants. To any familiar with the various younger Akechis, he can be recognized as one, seeming to be around five years old...

--

Option 1: We begin in Shibuya, as the young lad peeks his head in all of the buildings he passes by, entering and exiting with only a vaguely disappointed look every time.

"Mama? Mama...? Are you here, Mama???"

The poor kid seems aimless, walking around everywhere in an almost desperate attempt to find his mother... or it would be desperate, if he were emoting it as such. He seems a little too calm for a lost child.

"Mama...? In here?"

Someone may want to intervene before the kid tires himself out.

Option 2: The boy finds himself near Inokashira Park, and ends up swinging on a swing set as he finds himself distracted for the moment. He's a bit quiet as he does so, but he has a big smile on his face as he goes up and down on the swing... that is, until he sees someone nearby. His eyes zone in on them, and he screeches to a halt, staring at them with a curious eye. And just. keeps. Staring.

"..."

His gaze may be palpable with how intently he's staring at you

Locked to devilKira: The young boy finds himself all alone after wandering and wandering... Enough to find himself in Shinjuku, and just kind of sits down by himself on the sidewalk, all alone.

"..."

At first, he just sits there quietly. At least until his eyes start to suddenly well up with tears. And he sobs. He sobs, and sobs, and... he doesn't really know why. He's tired. He misses his Mama. He's cold. He wants a nap.

He sniffles a bit, not sure what to do...

It's been two years since the first wave of arrivals here.

I was among the initial group, with Crow following a few weeks after. Back then, there were far less of us. The majority of the "guests" were Akiras and Rens.

Obviously, things have changed. The scales have tipped. Faces both familiar and unfamiliar soon followed.

I've enjoyed my time here. The connections I've forged are some of the most integral to who I am as a person.

I just wonder sometimes if I'll wake up one morning and find myself at home, back in the twelve year old state I was when this all began.

Or, conversely, I've pondered what may happen if one day, Yu, Dojima-san, or even my sister arrived. I won't deny that I miss the others. I'm sure we all have people we miss.

It's just strange to think about.

I've known my family here longer than the people I left behind in "my" Inaba.

Well, what are your thoughts? Please feel free to go into as much detail as you feel is necessary.

As a followup question, would you consider cereal a form of cold soup?

[Why is Crow doing this? Well, perhaps he's simply bored, and this is a bizarre thought experiment.

Even he's allowed to get silly on occasion.]

Today is March 15th. That means the Ides of March are upon us.

On this day, the Roman Senate banded together to assassinate the tyrant Julius Caesar, stabbing him twenty-three times.

Though he became a martyr at the time, it was an act of necessity, and his killers acted in the name of the republic.

Though it's unfortunate that Caesar's demise paved the way for the Roman Empire, I cannot deny the allure of its history and the art and cultural iconography it spawned.

I do, however, still favor the Greek pantheon and myths over their Roman counterparts.

There's little time left before it's too late to steal Madarame's heart. In fact, the Phantom Thieves established that they're going to steal his Treasure today. That is what Goro Akechi is ready for, carrying his bag close to his side as he walks towards the meeting place.

...Except... as he continues walking, his surroundings distort, twist, and blur. He freezes in place, quickly turning with a keen eye.

Being sucked into the Metaverse? It's not the same as someone using the MetaNav, and yet he can't rule it out. It's too similar of a sensation, but perhaps he should wait until he has more information...

It's only when his surroundings take on a more proper shape that he seems as though he breathes again, recognizing the figure behind the newly manifested desk.

Welcome to the Velvet Room.

Igor? This is... The Velvet Room? It's far, far different than the one he knows. In fact...

He looks down at his hands. There are no shackles or chains. Nothing to be seen but his black gloves and the standard Shujin Academy uniform he wears prim and proper.

"...?"

He actually looks a tiny bit surprised by that, raising his head back up to meet Igor's as he tries to take in the information he's being given. Something about bonds while he stays in this place. Time not moving in his own world, and...

The new Akechi sharply inhales, not at all pleased by the new development and how it has derailed him by his already out of control life.

--

Option 1: Bulletin Board: Akechi has found himself examining the bulletin board in the Velvet Room. He needs a moment as he processes the... frankly baffling information it presents.

To say there's multiple versions of himself is one thing, but to say that there's multiple versions of his supposed 'soulmate' after making such an absurd claim is simply outrageous. What would give the creator of the bulletin board the right to determine his or any other's soulmate?

...Ugh, why is he getting so irritated about this? It's not like it matters, he wouldn't have time for such things to begin with.

Option 2: Leblanc: He tries to see if a certain doctor is around, but unfortunately her office is barren. Absolutely barren. Looks like he knows where he'll be staying during his time here, but in the meantime he decides he'll stop by Leblanc for something to eat. After all, it's bordering on dinnertime now.

He enters the store with a quiet, vaguely skeptical look on his face. He's not sure what any of the people in this weird version of Tokyo are like. He doesn't really trust many people to begin with, and to be honest... this place actually has him a bit on edge.

Option 3: Wild Card!: Want to do something that's not here? Feel free to come up with something and consult me about it!

To whom it may concern, my Ren and I have completed our duel.

Though the battle was arduous and presented many challenges, I won where it matters most.

Remove Personas from the equation, and my alluring qualities were far too much to resist. I came out of that fight with more than I anticipated, turning the tables effortlessly after withstanding Ren's most powerful Personas.

Sometimes, it is the aftermath of the initial battle that determines one's true strength. There are many ways toward victory.

I've permanently etched myself into his heart and mind. Funny, when he's the one so famous for stealing hearts.

[Those fluent in Akechese may be able to pick up that he didn't win the actual fight, but shh.

He's not just going to say that.]

It's been some time since Akira arrived at Dove's balcony, and Dove has taken it upon himself to make certain Akira recovers smoothly.

It's a small and quiet place. There's plenty of sunlight coming in through the balcony door and windows, and the view is actually quite nice from it. It's just nice and cozy.

But that's how it's been, no particular excitement or ventures for Dove. He's been too worried for Akira, keeping close in the event something happens. He hasn't minded a bit, enjoying the time with his dear friend, and getting things done around his apartment.

He even prepared his spare room for Akira, rushing to get the clutter out of the way so he can rest easily. In fact, Dove walks up to the door of that room right now, and gently knocks.

"...Akira? Are you awake?"

He doesn't want to disrupt Akira, but... he has a couple of things he needs to do, and it's important he gauges how Akira is feeling.

The same as he's done almost every day since he got- well, destroyed, Falcon finds himself training. There's an obsessive fury in his eyes, unmissable, clamped down and withdrawn as the rest of his body language is. He looks ready to strike at the slightest notice.

1: Mementos
One may notice him heading down the train station in Shibuya, before disappearing with the telling ripple of someone entering the Metaverse. He storms down the floors, not even bothering with the weaker Shadows. What good will taking out the small fry do if he needs to be stronger than he is? No, not even the dephts of Mementos will do- the heights of the new part of Mementos, the part he'd explored once with Magpie, that's where he's headed.

2: Moments in Between
Honestly, Falcon's been pretty scarce in general. He's only replying to network posts directly adressing him, not bothering to reach out to anyone himself, and even when he does reply to texts or network posts, it's short and to the point. Even when stopped, he only tends to talk long enough to say that he's busy, and move on. Right now, however, having exhausted most of his battery, he's stuck in his charging station... and clearly unhappy about it. He's not expecting anyone to drop by, though, so his eyes are closed in a faux-sleep.

3: Static
By midnight, he's gone again, out to train in the shiny new training room. Robin and Loki shift inside him, as if withdrawing slowly- but Falcon doesn't care. They've been doing this for a while now, no longer speaking to him, and cringing away, but as long as they obey when he calls them (and they still do, eagerly so), then it doesn't matter. He scoffs as he opens the hidden door, making sure there's no unsavory presence to follow him, before stepping inside. Here... there are the proper elements to train for doomada, and by god, is he gonna make sure he's prepared.

(Unbeknowst to him, rain has started falling in Inaba. Back home, his TV flickers with static, oh-so briefly, showing an unrecognizable silhouette.)

Greetings, everyone. This is Crow.

I understand that we've had quite a bit to grapple with of late. The holidays, the tapes, and recent developments regarding a certain threat.

But I'm sure some of you saw Violet-san's post regarding my world's Yoshizawa-san, otherwise known as Midnight.

As one of the only people from her world, I'm at least partially responsible. Do not try to talk me out of my involvement.

I don't need to be coddled.

That being said, we need to be pragmatic about this. That means assessing the viable locations for her Palace as well as possible keywords.

This may require us to understand Midnight's circumstances better. What I do know is...

- She holds Dr. Maruki in great esteem
- Seems to have gained access to the Metaverse even before the formation of the Phantom Thieves.
- Was still Dr. Maruki's patient, hence her actualization.
- Likely the one behind the 'Midnight Maiden' website, which seems unique to our world. I suppose you could compare it to a PhanSite, where users can anonymously leave wishes to be granted by the titular maiden.

This isn't enough to pinpoint everything, but it is a start. If anyone else has insights, feel free to share them.

It was embarrassing, the way that multiple children embarrassed Karasu when he declared his challenge. In hindsight, he should have expected it. It was a public challenge, where everyone could see it. He did so specifically to make his intentions clear and to make an impact.

Which he did, obviously. Just not the impact he desired.

Goro Akechi has endured more defeats than he'd care to admit, and some damning ones, at that. Pancakes, spicy takoyaki... yet somehow, being verbally pummeled by a thirteen year old ranks above all the rest.

But it is what it is, and he can do little but move forward, anticipating his next move. His first stop? Daidara Metalworks, naturally. Untouchable's wares are useful enough in the Metaverse, but why pass up the opportunity to test a real saber? As he steps inside, he examines the various swords and katana with one hand beneath his chin.

He hears the door subtly shut behind him, but initially pays it no mind. Still, he'd be a fool to completely lower his guard, so he's listening all the same.

[A message appears on the network one morning, not long after a certain Ren appears.

Not long after it goes up, some parts are edited out.]

Attention, "Crow" and "Joker."

With the arrival of my Ren, we formally challenge you over your precious codenames. Let us prove to you that we are the ones worthy of the titles, while you are mere variations from a simpler, happier world. despite the power you wield.

You may have seniority within this space, but we were forged in the fires of our hardships and have emerged on the other side of Maruki's reality.

You two have likely grown soft from your domesticity. Perhaps you'll find us worthy opponents after all this stagnation. They say the spirit of competition can bring out one's best and their worst.

[Is it bold to proclaim the challenge over the network? Yes. But he'd have it no other way, really. Everyone deserves to know how serious they are.]

As for the rest of you, I'd like to start a little bonding exercise.

Tell me something about yourself, and I'll tell you something about me in turn. Won't that be fun?

[It should be a simple way to start and prove that he's just as capable of "bonding" as Ren is.]

A. Network

[A post appears on the network the night the request box opens.]

How funny.

Is this their idea of an olive branch? They violate our privacy by placing our memories on tape, but it's perfectly fine because they can grant our wishes.

Disregarding that they're keeping us captive, of course, won't reunite us with whatever meaningful "bonds" we may already have in place, and still won't give us a straight answer for anything that actually matters.

I've half a mind to venture to the depths of Mementos myself to see if there's a godforsaken cup to thwart.

Wouldn't that be ironic? History repeating itself. A chance to face the false god that made me its puppet...

[Ha.]

But perhaps I don't deserve that kind of closure, after all is said and done.

B. Shibuya

[Snow is falling in Shibuya. The sky is clear. No bones to speak of. Holiday lights shimmer in the night, cognitions milling about.

His breath materializes as steam as he stares up at the myriad screens, all broadcasting the same nonsensical drivel they always have since he arrived here.

And yet... on one screen, he sees himself approaching Ren and Sae, offering to make good on his word.

A memory undone by Maruki's defeat, of course.]

It's almost Christmas Eve, one of the most romantic nights of the year.

So, I need advice.

What is the appropriate conduct for a first Christmas Eve as a couple when you and your partner are both young and inexperienced? And boys. We are both boys, and Ren is still grappling with the fact that he isn't entirely straight.

But I want it to mean something, and I want to do this right. He means a lot to me, and I'd like to ensure that we have a healthy future together.

Yes, I am aware that we are both young. That's why I want to stick the landing.

[In the middle of the night, a message appears on the network, not from Crow, but from his Shadow, Hiro.]

I saw Margaret-san in the Velvet Room today.

It's not an unusual sight. She is, first and foremost, a Velvet Room attendant.

But back home, she hasn't been since the Velvet Room was compromised three years ago.

[Well, more than three, after all the time spent here, but that hardly counts.]

It's different when you miss someone who isn't here. I miss Dad every day, but there isn't a cognitive version of him here to pour salt in the wound.

I'm sure this Margaret-san is a kind person. She always has been, but she isn't the woman who slowly became a part of our family after being exiled from the Velvet Room.

Crow is doing a far better job coping. I suppose he isn't as fragile as me.

But also, it's strange seeing her as she was and not the woman who may very well become our stepmother at this rate.

[Make what you will of that.]

[CW: death, robotic gore]

Despair, the last thing he feels before death claims him. Falcon thought he could do it- seal away the evil he'd seen in this tape, it's what he was made for, after all.

But in the end, he was too weak. He was overwhelmed- destroyed in one single attack.

All that is left is some pieces of burnt scrap metal near the top level of Mementos, unrecognizable for what they once were.

------

Not long after the chaos of the memory tapes, a glow appears in the Velvet Room. At first, it doesn't look like much- it's hard to even tell what it is. Slowly but surely, however, wires, circuits, and other mechanical parts become discernible, though it still takes a long time before anything truly recognizable becomes apparent. Falcon's naked circuitry renders him barely identifiable, almost Terminator-like, a rather gruesome image without his mesh to hide all the machinery underneath.

At his desk, Igor's grinning, as always, although next to him is a frowning Margaret. She looks concerned as she watches the slowly regenerating body, her arms crossed, her spine straight.

"... This cannot continue," she says, "we still don't know how he got in. We gave him a chance, but..."

Igor hums, closing his buldging eyes.

"It seems we will need to take other measures." His eyes open again. "Margaret, if you please."

"Of course," she says, and turns around to leave.

Igor stays in his seat, watching as Falcon slowly regenerates from nothing.

This is a matter of urgency.

Do you, or do you not, believe that Featherman is relevant enough in the collective cognition to manifest as Personas?

It stands to reason that it's possible, doesn't it? It's a long-lasting tokusatsu franchise that has touched the hearts and minds of children across generations.

There are some Personas with utterly abhorrent forms. Completely obscene, even.

Ergo, I don't think it's too much to ask for a Persona based on heroic symbols of justice.
undyingcrow: (irritated)

It would seem our 'gracious' hosts aren't above meddling in rather insidious ways.

Just today, I found myself locked out of my apartment with a note that, I shit you not, read:

"Dearest guest,

We've noticed that you've relegated yourself to your apartment and seldom left, let alone interacted with others. As the purpose of your stay is to foster bonds, we find this of great concern.

My sister has decided that more drastic means are required to "help you out of your shell." It's with my deepest and sincerest apologies that I must inform you that you will not be able to return to your apartment until you've made at least one new friend.

Terribly sorry for the inconvenience,

Theodore"

So. Evidently, they are not above more drastic measures, which in turn will only serve to facilitate bonding for the sake of personal gain.

Rather a foolish approach, if you ask me.

Nonetheless, it's gotten the job done, and those out and about may find an especially disgruntled Akechi. He can be spotted outside of Jazz Jin, contemplating if it's worth trying to unwind after such an irritating start to his day, as well as by Leblanc, yet again resenting the absence of the one person he gives a shit about.

But he's adventurous enough to poke about a few other places. First there's the Tatsuhime Shrine in Inaba, where he can be found accosted by a certain fox that has decided to inspect him. Later, he can be spotted grounds of Gekkoukan High School as the night stretches on. He seems to be waiting for something to happen.

But there's also room for wildcard scenarios, as he's just aimless enough to be spotted here and there. Perhaps you'll even find him shredding through Shadows in Mementos.

So it’s come to my attention that I am likely in need of a codename of some kind, however, from what I have seen all of my preferred choices have already been taken.

Since brainstorming on my own has yielded nothing, I’ve decided to open up suggestions from… anyone I guess.
So if anyone has any codename suggestions, or even a theme direction I can lean towards, it’d be greatly appreciated!
