When Kasumi arrives, she's not so certain what to think.

After all, the Velvet Room looks way different, being a pleasant blue room with plenty of doors instead of a grimy old prison (Thank goodness, really, she hated that prison even if it is apparently the 'reflection of her heart').

Igor's here (Something seems different about him, actually?), telling her to make bonds with the other people here, and she can't help but be rather confused. What about the upcoming ruin? What about Briar-- Sumire? Her sister? The one she can't remember, that doesn't exist anymore?

None of it makes sense, and she wants answers.

"Hello? Is anyone here? Igor-san's kind of giving me some mixed messages...!"

The new resident, complete with her brown hair up in a red ponytail and a small beauty mark next to her left eye as well as a Shujin uniform, begins looking around the Velvet Room in a haste, before opening her first door...

--

Option 1: Tokyo! On the streets of Shibuya, Kasumi can be fond going back and forth from various different cognitions. She seems to be trying to get answers from them, but with no luck. She seems frustrated, pursing her lips a bit as another cognition passes her by.

"Hmph...! Why won't anyone answer me?"

All she wants to know is exactly what this place is and what's going on, because it's sure as heck not the normal Velvet Room and this is sure as heck not the normal Igor. She's not stupid, she can tell that much.

...But she still doesn't know what the deal is! There has to be more to what's going on, right? Like come on, the people around her are all acting super weird!

"Is someone that isn't a jerk here???"

Option 2: Inaba! The riverbank flows as Kasumi takes a break, sitting beside it as a cool breeze blows by. After trying for so long to get answers, she needs a minute to just clear her head and relax... and after a solid moment, she just lies back on the grass, sprawling her arms and legs out as though she were making a snow angel.

What is this weird place? She can't help but wonder why she's here... She never lets herself sit and think for too long, given the circumstances of her life. How she has a little sister that doesn't exist anymore, apparently, but she wonders what she must have been like...

...What was Sumire like before she vanished?

She sighs somewhat loudly, raising one of her arms to her forehead.

Somewhere deep in Mementos, something shifts. Shifts and dislocates and erupts from a hemorrhage in the not-flesh of the underworld. Breaks free like a bone splintered through the skin, like bile wretched up through the mouth, like pus from an infected wound.

It isn't supposed to be here.

It is, all the same.

It takes the form of an Akira/Ren/Joker, covered in bruises and blood in clothes that are a few sizes too small for it, golden yellow eyes glowing; around its hands and feet are unbreakable shackles that the veins of Mementos yanks as they please. Intermittently, it gnaws on its insurmountable bindings, making no progress but trying anyway like a misguided oroboros snake.

It has to.

It must.

Its teeth crunch against steel, like a wild animal. It nurses its wounds mournfully, like a wild animal.

And it hates, sad and lonely and feral, like a wild animal.

It is strong. Its presence will be immediately obvious to anyone with the capabilities to scan or evaluate or sense Mementos; it growls in the mind and scratches against surveillance. It radiates a pulsating, suture-filled tangle of emotions, heated as though inflamed and guarded as if vulnerable.

> Approach, but only if you are aware of the potential danger.

[Somewhere, in the normal world, Akira "Morning" Maruki sneezes. Huh...I wonder if there's dust in here.]

[ ooc // to clear up any confusion, Shadow!Morning aka Evening has a set of metal shackles that represent Morning's actualization & inability to accept his shadow. These are part of it and will need to be removed by Morning; it's still trying to get out of them. Any veins or tentacles are visually-obviously not part of it, and they're specifically from Mementos itself trying to restrain it with DadRuki's lingering influence. These can and SHOULD be yeet asap! ]

A lot can happen over a month. Guernica knows that very well, and knows that even better thanks to what happened over this last month.

A gaudy-ass brainwashing bird bent on killing everyone, the Phantom Thieves of Hearts befriending the memory of her Big Sis, and helping her remember the reason Guernica paints. Then there was all that red sky and blood and bones shit going on, and Joker (She knows it was him, it had to be. Joker, Crow, Kasumi, and the rest of his crew by his side--) fighting off that big ass false god with a demon of his own.

Wouldn't be the first time for him. She wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the last.

But after that... well, she's been doing her usual thing. Spreading her art, loud and proud, for the world to see. 'Hey, hear us! These are the voices you're tryin' to smother! You got that?! We're still here and we're still fightin'!'

The only odd thing is that the calm after the storm's been a bit too calm. Christmas Eve felt a little too sugary sweet, like something out of a cheesy Christmas movie. Normally there were some of the poor folk having it a bit rough, and she'd do something for them around this time, but everyone was just... happy. Nothing for her to do. Weird as hell.

And now... now there's something even weirder. A strange, blue room with a bunch of doors, a strange old man with bug eyes and a long, pointed nose talking about dreams and mind and matter and who knows what else.

"The hell's all this?"

It's not to say she doesn't get that it's cognitive or based on imagination or whatever. Oh, she gets that much. Considering her time in The Streets, she sure as hell knows it's cognitive. But this place is weird. Like what the hell, who is this old man? He says his name is Igor or something? He wants her to make bonds or some such?

Like. OK? Sure, she can, uh, do that she guesses? Not like she hates literally everybody. She's an outcast of society, but she's not against talking to people now and again. Just as long as she remains anonymous. Though, depending on how long she's here she's gonna have to use her name eventually--

...Wait, when's she going to be allowed back home? There's a way out, right? Freaking-- OK. Time to get some info.

--

1. Option 1: Considering there's a bulletin board, people have a lot to say. Naturally, Guernica had to check it out. Of course, it only begs more questions.

"What the hell...?"

OK, so... There's a lot of Jokers and Crows here? But they're all going by different names. And there are vampires and fairies and stuff. And...

She's leaning over, squinting at the board with a hand to her chin, and you can practically see a question mark over her head.

"...There's a lot goin' on here, huh? All right... So what I'm getting here is 'use common sense' and 'memorize who's who'."

Not to mention all the details about Joker and Crow and their... love life? That's none of her business, frankly, but the creator of the board must've thought it would be needed info. Or maybe they're just a gossip, who knows.

2. Option 2: Across the span of what feels like one night, various buildings in Tokyo, particularly the tallest and largest of them, and the governmental buildings-- are all covered with large, colorful and loud graffiti. To those who are familiar with certain news broadcasts and keep up with news regarding art... Is that the work of Guernica?

You may also find a girl in paint-spattered clothes, and long, messy blue hair walking the streets of Tokyo. Her hands are in her pockets, and she just walks along like it's nobody's business.

She's got a smile on her face, feeling pretty satisfied with herself. After all, she made a lot of practice pieces in one night! Although... it's kind of a shame she doesn't have a big amount of people to show them too.

She sighs, crossing her arms as she considers it.

"...Is anybody even gonna see 'em...?"

3. Option 3: To change it up a little, Guernica decides to explore a bit, and to see beyond the cityscape. To visit a world she's never known... The quiet, small town life of Inaba.

There are no super tall buildings or loud crowds or anything. There's, instead, the flow of the river, the wind gently blowing through her hair, and the sound of the leaves gently rustling in the trees.

The town is quiet and it looks rather lonely, and it's honestly pretty weird. It's not the life Guernica's used to, that's for sure.

...She can't help but think about Luca, and what she would think about a place like this.

There's little time left before it's too late to steal Madarame's heart. In fact, the Phantom Thieves established that they're going to steal his Treasure today. That is what Goro Akechi is ready for, carrying his bag close to his side as he walks towards the meeting place.

...Except... as he continues walking, his surroundings distort, twist, and blur. He freezes in place, quickly turning with a keen eye.

Being sucked into the Metaverse? It's not the same as someone using the MetaNav, and yet he can't rule it out. It's too similar of a sensation, but perhaps he should wait until he has more information...

It's only when his surroundings take on a more proper shape that he seems as though he breathes again, recognizing the figure behind the newly manifested desk.

Welcome to the Velvet Room.

Igor? This is... The Velvet Room? It's far, far different than the one he knows. In fact...

He looks down at his hands. There are no shackles or chains. Nothing to be seen but his black gloves and the standard Shujin Academy uniform he wears prim and proper.

"...?"

He actually looks a tiny bit surprised by that, raising his head back up to meet Igor's as he tries to take in the information he's being given. Something about bonds while he stays in this place. Time not moving in his own world, and...

The new Akechi sharply inhales, not at all pleased by the new development and how it has derailed him by his already out of control life.

--

Option 1: Bulletin Board: Akechi has found himself examining the bulletin board in the Velvet Room. He needs a moment as he processes the... frankly baffling information it presents.

To say there's multiple versions of himself is one thing, but to say that there's multiple versions of his supposed 'soulmate' after making such an absurd claim is simply outrageous. What would give the creator of the bulletin board the right to determine his or any other's soulmate?

...Ugh, why is he getting so irritated about this? It's not like it matters, he wouldn't have time for such things to begin with.

Option 2: Leblanc: He tries to see if a certain doctor is around, but unfortunately her office is barren. Absolutely barren. Looks like he knows where he'll be staying during his time here, but in the meantime he decides he'll stop by Leblanc for something to eat. After all, it's bordering on dinnertime now.

He enters the store with a quiet, vaguely skeptical look on his face. He's not sure what any of the people in this weird version of Tokyo are like. He doesn't really trust many people to begin with, and to be honest... this place actually has him a bit on edge.

Option 3: Wild Card!: Want to do something that's not here? Feel free to come up with something and consult me about it!

There's a small girl that appears in the Velvet Room. One wearing glasses and an elementary school uniform. She seems to be about eleven years old, staring a bit nervously at Igor as he explains where she is, and what she's supposed to do.

"...U-Um..."

She holds her hands close to her, not quite able to shake off her worry. Sure, some of the things Igor's saying should relieve her worries, like time not passing while she's here (W-Wha?!), but this is still so much to take in?!

And where's her big sister? Where's Kasumi? They were just out getting ice cream after a big gymnastics event... W-Where did she go...?

"..."

Her head turns towards the doors. Maybe... Maybe Kasumi was here already? Maybe she just went on ahead... Yeah, sometimes she gets a bit excited and rushes on ahead, but she never goes too far without her little sister.

...Sometimes she wishes she could take the lead though...

So Sumire approaches one of the doors, and slowly turns the door knob...

Option 1: Sumire finds herself in the familiar setting of Tokyo, particularly the Shibuya area. It's so overwhelming being here alone, with all of the people passing her by! But she tries her hardest to push through, and... wait... They're just letting her through? It's almost like they're parting as they need her to, instead of her needing to push...

She looks up at one of the adults, and something about them seems odd. The look on their face is cheerful, but their eyes are glazed over... It's a bit unnerving, honestly.

"..."

But Sumire continues wandering, trying to call out for her big sister.

"K-Kasumi...?! Are you there?! Kasumi!"

Option 2: The next door Sumire tries is the door to Inaba, which is a lot quieter and more lax than the door to Tokyo, thankfully. It's calm, peaceful. Such a small town, and definitely not what Sumire is used to. Could Kasumi be here...?

As Sumire wanders, she finds herself outside Junes, where she realizes... she's actually a bit hungry... The two of them never got ice cream like they were supposed to, and now it's probably time for dinner. Oh, what's she supposed to do, she doesn't have any money...!

Option 3: The last door she opens, the one to Iwatodai, is around sunset. She's found herself at near the theater and flower shop, quietly looking around with curiosity and worry.

"...Kasumi?"

But her eyes are drawn to the various, beautiful flowers... and as much as she wishes she could have one, again, she has no money. Ah, if only she had her allowance with her...

"...They're so pretty..."

She knows Kasumi would love the roses in particular... Of course she would, they're her favorites. Meanwhile her own are the violets, which... well, it's a bit obvious they're her favorites, considering her name.

...Maybe she can ask the lady how much they cost? Ah, but... she's too nervous...

His first mistake was loosing sight of Hannei.
Well he’s probably at fault for that one. He did ask her to scout out one of his targets, see they can convince him to back off…

Of course, things can never be that simple. One minute he’s asking Futaba to look into a name, he only stepped away for a minute to collect his thoughts.
And suddenly everything is blue.

What the fuck

Okay. Sure. This is happening now. It’s not like he was busy today and doesn’t have the time to schedule in whatever this is. ‘Mandatory team building activity’? Sure, whatever you say weird guy with a big nose.
This is fine.
This is absolutely fine.
No no he can work with this. Deep breathes Akechi, you’re still in control… as much as you can be when suddenly whisked away to some sort of Velvet Room.
Ok, so, tackle this like any other problem. Find out information and then come up with the best course of action.
And would you look at that. There’s some sort of conspiracy board. How helpful. So, attaché case in hand, he’s going to do what he knows best.
Figure out the best way to play his cards.

...

...?

Ren opens his eyes for the first time in what feels like an eternity.

"...Huh? Where...?"

He was somewhere else a moment ago, wasn't he? Or... wait, what was he doing last? He... saw Akechi, he thinks? He's not sure though, it's actually rather fuzzy...

But he snaps to attention when he hears a familiar voice. Igor...? Wait, he's in the Velvet Room? It looks way different... and those doors over there are new.

Igor says something about making bonds, and Ren just kind of blinks, staring back at him with a blank stare. Is this a dream? He went back to sleep, so dreaming would make sense. But... at the same time though, something deep inside of him seems to deny that train of thought. Like he really is awake...

He steps further into the Velvet Room, looking around a bit as he does. What should he be doing, exactly? Honestly, he's not sure... He feels like he should be doing something very important, but he can't remember what it is...

-

Option 1: He finds himself lingering at one of the doors, slowly raising his hand to grab the door knob, but he hesitates. He can't help but find himself distracted by this whole thing. Why did Igor bring him here? Is it really just to make friends? He thought he already did that, but...

Option 2: He stares blankly at the conspiracy board, trying to take in all of the information on it. There's a lot here, and he's honestly having a hard time wrapping his head around it at the moment. Is he... sure he's not dreaming? Because this all sounds too ridiculous to believe.

Option 3: He finds himself in Tokyo, particularly in Leblanc. Without even thinking, he starts getting behind the counter to make himself a cup of coffee. Maybe that'll help get rid of the brain fog that he feels...

A young girl has found herself here, in the Velvet Room. She eyes Igor with a sharpness to her eyes, one that betrays the polite smile on her face.

"...The Velvet Room..."

She's never heard of such a place, and truth be told, she almost believes she's dreaming as she looks about the room, taking in the vivid blue surroundings.

...But she's seen things that are hard to believe for the normal person, and as such she raises a hand with a jeweled ring to her chin.

So it seems she was brought here to... what, make bonds? How ridiculous, she thinks to herself. It's not as though it'll do her any good. Making friends is the last thing on her mind, she has other things to consider, like her duties... and her boiling desire for revenge.

But betraying her dark thoughts, her smile grows slightly, looking oh so kind and pleasant in the face of this odd situation. She hums a bit quietly, tilting her head a bit, all with that smile.

"I see. Thank you. I'll be sure to do just that.

But she has other concerns as well. She needs to be able to fight Witches and gather Grief Seeds. Are there any here? Hell, is Kyubey even here? Not that she trusts him a single bit, but something familiar, something she can work with would be good.

But now... Now what? She's left to consider her options.

Option 1: Akechi finds herself drawn to the conspiracy board first thing, eyeing it with a small frown. Well, it seems that someone has gathered up plenty of information... A blessing, really, considering she can use all of the info she can get. Let's see... She gets to reading it, carefully trying to take in the information in front of her. Needless to say though, she's actually rather perplexed by... well. All of it.

Who is Ren Amamiya? Akira Kurusu? Souji Seta? Yu Narukami? It's all a but baffling, this information presented as though it's common knowledge. Clearly it isn't, given her own unfamiliarity with them.

But something catches her eyes... A note about Rens or Akiras and Akechis being soulmates.

Her expression is blank as she stares at it, her eyes becoming obscured as her bangs shift slightly inf front of them.

And what right does anyone have to make such bold, blatantly false claims? She's never met any such person in her life, and they certainly wouldn't be her soulmate if she had. She has no soulmate.

Option 2: She steps through one of the doors, and finds herself in Kichijoji... a familiar sight. For a second, she almost believes she's home... but she knows better than that, especially since the door back to the Velvet Room is right behind her.

Her eyes narrow as she watches the various cognitions passing by, each of them seeming... off. Those uncanny smiles, the blank look in their eyes... Each of them reminding her a little too much of someone affected by a Witch's Kiss. There seem to be no signs of anyone actually being affected by one though, so... what is this?

She could try to sense for magic in the air, but... well, she's surrounded by people, and it would be foolish to let her secret slip so easily.

Her hand with the blue-jeweled ring is clenched slightly, and she considers ducking into an alleyway in order to conjure up her Soul Gem.

Option 3: As Akechi wanders about Tokyo, she finds herself near Shibuya, another familiar sight. She doesn't visit Shibuya incredibly often, but she's been there enough to at least feel vaguely comforted by the familiarity.

She steps into one of the many stores, frowning a bit as she considers the fact that her finances are limited. She didn't bring a ton of money with her when she was leaving home. That said though... Her eyes shift towards the various cognitions going too and from the counter. She gets the strange sense that the cognitions aren't particularly attentive... Hmm.

But theft would be unbecoming of the Detective Princess.

“Oh come on, how did I manage to lose him this time?” Mishima pouted to himself as he continued down the alley he swore he saw Akechi disappear in. He must have gotten turned around somewhere though because the only door he was able to pass through lead him to a mysterious room decked all in blue and in the center sat a strange man with a disconcerting grin on his face.

“Velvet Room?” He parroted back, not really understanding what all of this meant. “W-wait between dream and reality?” His voice cracked in a way that made him cringe. Did he hit his head or something? He wasn’t sleeping just a minute ago… “But you don’t understand, sir! I have to get back right away. There is something important I need to do!” He tried explaining, but the mysterious man only chuckled at him and explained he should focus on making ‘bonds with others’, as if any new bonds could possibly outweigh the bond between him and Kurusu.

This was getting him no where, so after another minute of shock. “I need to get back out.” He repeated, turning to the door he had come through only for him to end up in the same exact room! Ok, he definitely had to be dreaming. If that was the case he didn’t have much choice but to go through one of the offered doors. But which one?

He hesitated before the row, but ultimately walked through the one that seemed most familiar. He couldn’t say why one door in particular felt that way, it was just a gut reaction. Kurusu had said he needed to follow his instincts more, rather than ignore them.

~~~
Suddenly Mishima found himself back in the familiar streets of Shinjuku. “Thank goodness.” He let out a relieved sigh. Before he even took a breath in again he had his phone out, checking to see if he had missed anything dire. But no….no messages still. That was probably a good thing. Next he moved like clockwork to check the Phansite, in case anyone had a problem the Phantom Thieves absolutely needed to look into. It wouldn’t load. He refreshed the page, still nothing. Mishima sighed again, this time in annoyance as he was forced to go into his settings to turn off the wifi. There wouldn’t be anything he was connected to out here, he needed his 5G. But there was no 5G, there was no signal at all.
He let out a shameless scream.
How was he supposed to run the Phansite if he couldn’t get signal in the most well connected city in the country? He turned his phone off and back on again as he hurried towards home. Still no signal. Now though, the tech addicted teen noticed a new app on his home screen. One he knows he never downloaded himself. Curious, he opened it and was officially welcomed to the MetaNav.
From the looks of it, it was some sort of directions app but one that oddly seemed more focused on the bonus chat functions it had to offer. As if it was trying to be a message app as well. Oh well, at least it loaded quickly.
 Akira's eyes fluttered open. He found himself staring at a familiar blue ceiling, one he had seen a dozen times. In truth, he wasn't surprised. How long had it been since he had last been summoned to the Velvet Room? If his memory was correct, it was the day before Akechi sold him and his team out...
Yet as he pushed himself up to his feet, he'd notice the lack of metal hitting metal or the stale smell that accompanied his usual prison cell. It... wasn't even a cell at all, not anymore. Though the layout of the Velvet Room was the same, there were no bars keeping him hostage. A single glance down allowed him to take in his altered attire; instead of being clad in rags suiting a prisoner, he had taken up the guise of his rebellious form. Perhaps this was due to the nature of his heart changing? Certainly Igor would explain. Looking up, Akira awaited an explanation, but the voice he heard from the long-nosed man was entirely foreign to him.
"Welcome to the Velvet Room..." Igor began, speaking as if this were their first meeting. Akira saw none of the familiarity he expected of Igor, nor did he spot Caroline or Justine, who had always accompanied him before. As he took a few steps out of his 'cell', Akira took in the sight of five doors behind Igor. One called out to him; it was familiar, but it had been a while since he had laid eyes on that particular door. The door to Leblanc...
The others he couldn't pin down. A door adjacent felt familiar, but in a nostalgic way. It reminded him of home.
"If you have any concerns about the world from which you have come..." Igor continued as Akira turned his attention back to his guide. So, this was another world entirely. He needed answers. Besides the doors, what caught his eye was a board far too haphazard to be Igor's doing. He could see writing pinned to it. If Akechi were here, certainly he'd be able to figure out what had happened in an instant. But for now, however, Akira found himself alone.
Option 1Akira approached the Conspiracy Board, gaze trailing across the various notes. There had to be something of use here...
Option 2: The best course of action would be to reunite with Akechi. Hopefully, that would be his Akechi, but even another version of him from another world should have some inkling of what was going on. Approaching the door to Tokyo, he'd step inside, finding himself on Central Street, dressed in his usual summer attire.
Option 3: Akira's eyes couldn't leave the door beside his own. Despite the pull of information or the desire to reunite with his one ally, he wanted to ease the curiosity in his heart. Opening the door to Inaba, he only felt his nostalgia growing stronger as the smells and sounds from his childhood spilled out. With one more step, he was through, unknowingly in a new time. His outfit returned to normal, becoming his typical summer outfit. Now where would his curiosity lead him...?
When Sumire opens her eyes, she finds herself in the Velvet Room... A much different Velvet Room then the one she's accustomed to.
"...Huh?"
She looks around a bit before hearing Igor's introduction, her eyes widening as she takes it in. Wait, wait, wait, WHAT? Hang on, he wants her to make bonds?! Isn't she already trying to do that? That whole 'rehabilitation' thing? Not that it was that well explained, but wasn't that part of it...?
"A-All right. I'll try to..."
She's not really that confident, considering how she's still only just getting started as a Phantom Thief at home. She's made some friends and allies, but it's not like she's strong or a good friend like Kasumi was... She's just barely keeping it together in comparison. So really, all she can do is just try at best.
Sumire takes the chance to step a bit further into the Velvet Room, and try to decide exactly what to do now.
She takes a deep breath, trying to steel herself. She's been in dangerous situations before, she can handle being in some odd situation like this. She just needs to keep herself focused. Like Kasumi would. Kasumi would be brave. Just act like Kasumi... Act like the leader of the Phantom Thieves would.
Her eyes gain a bit more steel as she continues walking into the Velvet Room.
Option 1: Sumire walks up towards Igor, trying to inquire a bit about the current state of the Velvet Room. Is this what it looks like without one current guest? Or perhaps it's a unique state for multiple guests...? Also what about his voice? It sounds different... Where are Caroline and Justine? What about-- wait, no, that would be rude...! Instead she just stares awkwardly at Igor, trying to get the words out for the questions she wants to ask.
Option 2: Sumire finds herself stepping into the Tokyo door, on the way to Odaiba. It's just a place she finds herself going to clear her head sometimes. It's so eerie how realistic this version of Tokyo is... She walks along, looking around with a surprised and curious look.
Option 3: Sumire stands in front of one of the subways in Tokyo, staring at her phone. She seems to be debating on entering Mementos, but it's hard to say if she's certain enough to do so...
Well. This wasn't what Ren was expecting, leading up to Valentine's Day. A visit to the Velvet Room was certainly unexpected, and even more unexpected is the fact that it's not a prison. In fact, for half a second she wonders if it's because she no longer views herself as a prisoner.
...Or does she? It's hard to say.
All the same she hears what Igor has to say, and as per usual it leaves her with more questions than answers. She knows better than to press though, and figures she'll learn more if she just checks it all out herself.
But that just begs the question... Where to go from here? Multiple doors, the board...
No one can say she never had a sense of curiosity and adventure as she takes her first steps into this peculiar version of the Velvet Room...
--
Option 1: Ren does, in fact, walk towards the board and begins to read it. Her eyes can't be seen through the gleam on her glasses, but you can still practically see the question marks appearing over her head at all of the information on the board.
Option 2: Ren immediately heads straight for one of the doors, and is about to step in without a second thought. This place is meant to be explored, and she was never one without a sense of curiosity and adventure. Which door is it? Thankfully it's not the one with the demons within it.
Option 3: Ren goes through the Tokyo door, and finds herself in the middle of Shibuya, surrounded by the eerily smiling cognitions. She seems tense as she walks along, apparently not prepared for it.
Akechi quietly blinks, taken somewhat off guard by his arrival in what seems to be the Velvet Room. It's quite different from the one he's used to, that's for sure. Where are the tall, grandiose curtains leading to the rows of seats belonging to a nonexistent audience? The ones that practically tell him to step onto center stage to await the spotlights, as though he has transcended beyond the role of understudy, only to become the star performer of the mystery placed before him?
After the initial shock, he finds himself touching around the sides of his head around eye level... There's nothing there. Fair enough, he would have remembered if there was.
It occurs to him instantly that this is a physical Velvet Room. It's nothing like the VR headset he's been restricted to when it comes to visiting the one he's used to. This is a real, physical place... Igor is here before him not as a digital being stuck without his full power, but as an existence on the same plane as him. There's also no Lavenza in sight, which surprises Akechi. After all, she was the one that helped him become aware of the altered state of the world.
It's all so curious. Truly curious.
Not to mention the multiple doors, and what seems to be a board covered in various notes. Honestly, it seems like something from a conspiracy theorist, at least from this distance.
He considers approaching the board first, but for the moment he seems to be taking in his situation in considerable thought.
  • Option 1: His eyes linger on the conspiracy board, and he begins stepping towards it. Whatever is on it, it must be important...
  • Option 2: He steps towards the doors, and stops. He's hit the crossroads, and he has to sort through just where to begin...
  • Option 3: He remains firmly in place, a vague look of confusion on his face as he takes in his surroundings with a sharp eye. Better to gauge than to act carelessly, after all...
Ann knows this place.
This shade of blue, and the song...though its notes flow far more harmoniously than they had the last (and only) time she'd heard them, the melody itself is enough to make Ann's heartbeat kick up a notch. That song only plays in the Velvet Room--and the Velvet Room is not a place she wants to be. Lavenza had said it. Her gut had said it--and Elizabeth had confirmed it. The Velvet Room was in the control of Yaldabaoth, wearing the skin of Igor.
Ann had never met Igor, personally, but both Akira in the previous timeline and the Attendants she'd encountered had painted a vivid picture of him. Taking in her surroundings carefully (this Room matched neither the descriptions of a prison Akira had once given her, or the crumbling ruins Lavenza had pulled her into at the End of a World), Ann eyes the man she can only assume is Yaldabaoth. And, even if it is truly Igor...
She's never met the man, and she doesn't trust anything he has to say to her. She might not be garbed in her will of rebellion, currently, but Célestine is always with her, and steeling her spine with a little of her flame, Carmine stands tall and proud.
Ann takes in the doors. Makes a split second decision that she shouldn't just be rushing into making a decision; Lavenza, and Elizabeth, she trusts--and she's heard Elizabeth describe their siblings enough that she feels as though she can trust them too. She'll poke around in this unfamiliar Velvet Room for now, and see if she can't encounter one of them...or at least someone who can tell her what's going on.
[When she wakes up, it's like peeling herself off of a puddle of glue. Or what she imagines cracking out of an egg must be like for a baby bird. Slow, frustrating, and kind of crunchy.]
[She actually didn't expect to wake up again, at all. And especially not here, opening her eyes to the deep blue and constant aria of the Velvet Room. With a yawn, she sits upright and rubs her eyes. There's a cot underneath her, not unlike what someone might find in the nurse's office at a school, but her school bag is nowhere to be found. All she has is the uniform she is wearing. Thankfully, she does appear to still have her shoes, which she tenderly rests on the floor, as if she doesn't quite expect it to be solid.]
[A glance around tells her that someone has redecorated. The Velvet Room is much bigger than she remembers, for one thing, and it's got several doors that did not used to be there, for another. Once she lays eyes on Igor, it seems to give him permission to speak. She listens with a slight frown, as if she's thinking very hard.]
Yes, I know who you are and what this place is. But... why? And... are you sure that it's okay for me to be here?
[Whatever his answer is, she is deeply uncomfortable with the idea of stepping outside this liminal space back into Iwatodai, which she knows is behind the familiar door. Or any of the other doors. Something about it makes her feel as thought it will make it real that she is no longer acting as the seal keeping Erebus back and Nyx away. It just isn't worth the risk. So, she sets about exploring what exists within the Velvet Room.]
