[open/intro]
Ann knows this place.
This shade of blue, and the song...though its notes flow far more harmoniously than they had the last (and only) time she'd heard them, the melody itself is enough to make Ann's heartbeat kick up a notch. That song only plays in the Velvet Room--and the Velvet Room is not a place she wants to be. Lavenza had said it. Her gut had said it--and Elizabeth had confirmed it. The Velvet Room was in the control of Yaldabaoth, wearing the skin of Igor.
Ann had never met Igor, personally, but both Akira in the previous timeline and the Attendants she'd encountered had painted a vivid picture of him. Taking in her surroundings carefully (this Room matched neither the descriptions of a prison Akira had once given her, or the crumbling ruins Lavenza had pulled her into at the End of a World), Ann eyes the man she can only assume is Yaldabaoth. And, even if it is truly Igor...
She's never met the man, and she doesn't trust anything he has to say to her. She might not be garbed in her will of rebellion, currently, but Célestine is always with her, and steeling her spine with a little of her flame, Carmine stands tall and proud.
Ann takes in the doors. Makes a split second decision that she shouldn't just be rushing into making a decision; Lavenza, and Elizabeth, she trusts--and she's heard Elizabeth describe their siblings enough that she feels as though she can trust them too. She'll poke around in this unfamiliar Velvet Room for now, and see if she can't encounter one of them...or at least someone who can tell her what's going on.

"Oh, Takamaki-san!" Gosh, he's so pleased to see her, though, as much as he tries to hide it. "I didn't know you were here."
no subject
Also: he wouldn't call her Takamaki-san. Not with it sounding so genuine, at least.
She narrows her eyes at him. Célestine does feel closer to the surface than usual...has she somehow slipped into the Metaverse? Is this someone's cognition of the Velvet Room--someone's cognition of Akechi Goro, the Detective Prince?
"Who are you?" Crossing her arms, she doesn't bother playing at pleasantries. "And what do you mean by 'here?'"
no subject
"I'm sorry. I thought..." Thought I knew you; thought maybe we could be real to each other. Thought I might not be alone again, for a few seconds. "I guess we don't know each other, in your world. I'm Goro Akechi. Or I should say, I'm a Goro Akechi."
His smile's already returning, carefree and eerie. "How much do you know? I take it you have just arrived?"

It was for that reason that he was passing through the Velvet Room on his way back, offering Igor a half-hearted salute as he entered-
And paused.
Well. Nobody'd mentioned Ann around, but then it was only a matter of time before someone else he knew showed up.
Probably, he thought idly, in the fraction of a second it would've taken for her attention to turn to the Inaba door, someone should inform her that we're not a Shadow. Since that seems to be a recurring assumption.
He raised an empty hand and a half-empty bottle of decidedly blue-flavored sports drink, in the universal sign language for 'not a shadow, kindly don't set me on fire'.
"Morning?"
no subject
And, well. Now she'd just feel bad, acting all suspicious and accusing. At the very heart of her, she's still just a teenage girl, after all. "...hi????" (There's layers to that 'hi;' each question mark containing a different unspoken question that begs an answer--namely, though: What Is Going On?)
no subject
Could've been the two and a half meters of slightly awkward bird demon ducking to get in the doorway, honestly.
"... So I'm going to assume you have questions. Which one would you like to cover first?"

(She doesn't like the way his words implies that he knows things--about the Velvet Room, but mostly? About her.)

"I guess I should have been expecting it, different universes and such." He sighed. He narrowed his eyes, something was strange about her. He couldn't quite place it.

He knows that face. And while it's true that a version of Ann appeared at least at one point, this one seems... confused. Certainly not the same one, but it's comforting all the same. So many of the Phantom Thieves have been absent from his life for nearly half a year now.
So, he takes a chance and approaches, clad in his shujin uniform, black turtleneck, gloves, and... a ring? A rather pretty black ring fashioned after Joker's mask with red gemstones.
"It's a lot to take in, isn't it?"
no subject
Stop. Reboot. What?
"Okay," Ann says, a little dazed, "I've seen everything now, I think." And that is not a challenge, universe!
She shakes her head, as if to get her thoughts back in order. "Um, yeah," she says. "Am I wrong in assuming your name is Goro Akechi, or...?"

"Yeah," she says, waving a little hand in greeting as she takes him in. "Pretty much just arrived, but I've met a few other people wandering through here." She squints at him, taking in all the things that are unfamiliar about him. But, even with all that, given the pattern thus far...
"So, uh, don't take this the wrong way," she says, "but since everyone else I've met here so far has been, you're not, like...another version of Goro Akechi, are you?"
no subject
It seemed like she'd met some of the Akechis already which meant Makoto didn't need to explain to her the fact this place was somewhere that realities seemed to intersect with one another. "Oh. No, you can call me Makoto Yuki." He offers her back. "I'm from Iwatodai, 2009." He figures that she's probably from sometime in the future, or a future since he doesn't recognize her. Despite having two locations from the past there doesn't seem to be anyone here that was from further back than 2009.

When he looks up, he sees Takamaki. Huh.
Could be worse. As far as Phantom Thieves go, he doesn't have a problem with Takamaki. She's one of the ones he kind of likes, even, which is a shame, given everything that's going to come out when he gets home. But this probably isn't the one from his world anyway.
"Hey, Takamaki," he says, holding the other ice cream properly so that both his hands are full. Which means he can't stick his hands in his pockets and hold onto his knife. He didn't think this one all the way through. Ren himself is dressed a little differently than Takamaki might be used to, in shabby clothes with earrings and a leather band wrapped twice around his wrist. He also looks underslept, but he smiles at her anyway. "New face. Sorry you're stuck here. Want this?"
He holds out the ice cream that he got for Futaba. He can always go back and get another.
no subject
For one: her Akira wouldn't be so casual to be here as to be handing out ice-cream, she thinks--at the very least, he'd be questioning what she was doing here, since he thinks Ann Takamaki is just an ordinary classmate, and everyone she's met here so far (with one notable, slightly unsettling acception) has been...Not That.
And for two: Akira wouldn't dress like that? Or call her Takamaki? She can't remember the last time he was so formal with her--not in this timeline, or the one that came before it.
"Um," she says, around a mouthful of ice-cream, because...well, she still can't fathom an Akira trying to poison her, or whatever? And it's damn good ice-cream. "You don't know me, do you."
no subject
"Nope. I know my world's version of you, but not you personally." He glances down at his own ice cream—more chocolatey, with some red-pink accents that suggest strawberry—then figures what the hell, and takes out one of the pieces of strawberry pocky that stick out of the cup. "My name's Ren Amamiya, by the way. Akira's my name in some other worlds, for some reason."
He bites into the pocky. Tasty.

i see so this is what you were doing last night -
He hears the sound of someone else and tilts his head, not so much turning as twisting to look over his shoulder until he can see enough to recognize the other person. The eye that's visible is much more definitively red. "Ah. A Takamaki-san. Hello."
ann bug got into my brain. contents worming but different, u know
(The image of what Lavenza had shown her in Akira's Compendium--the ten shattered links that had remained of Akira's bond to Justice in the wake of Akechi's death--it's a weight as heavy as any of her other guiding lights. She won't let that happen again.)
So...as weird as it is, it's also kind of...relieving? To see an Akechi clearly past his teen years, even if he's also just weird in general (those clothes? The much brighter red of his eyes? The wings???)
"Hello, Akechi-kun," she greets, because she's sort of gotten used to this song and dance already, in the short time she's been here--you can only encounter so many Goro Akechis before you just accept that it's sort of a thing that's going to be happening to you, you know? "You're looking nice and old today."
one word rpg writhe etc
Giving the board one last glance over, he turns in her direction properly. He doesn't actually lean against the wall (there's a noticeboard there) but there's something similar to the idea in his posture, the way his shoulders tip back and he sticks his hands on his hips.
"Through no fault of my own, unfortunately," he says, and although there's something faintly like a joke in the words, his expression is somber, perhaps a little grieved. "I did die at the age of eighteen, if 'how did you survive' was going to be your next question."
Best get the unpleasant part out of the way first.

"You must be new here. I'm Futaba." She held out her hand for a handshake. She was just excited to not see another guy. New faces were always welcome and well she hadn't met many in the velvet room. She'd always meet them after they left.
no subject
She takes the offered hand in her own, and smiles brightly. "Hey, Futaba-chan!" Given the lack of recognition in Futaba's own greeting, she assumes that this isn't her own Futaba--and just like Rose, is just a wildly different Futaba from the norm in general. "I'm Ann Takamaki! It's nice to meet you."

Wow I am super late to this. Hope this is okay.
She was passing through after having done a relaxing run through Inaba when she spots her best friend and freezes. For a second she wonder if she's dreaming, but then those thoughts disappear because her best friend is finally here!
"Ann?"
She's trying to resist the urge to run up to her to hug, as much as she wants to her Ann badly.
IT'S ALWAYS OKAY i wuv shiho
"Shiho," she says, once she remembers how to breathe. She rushes forward and takes up Shiho's hands in her own, squeezing tight even though she knows this probably isn't her Shiho. Either of her Shiho's. "God, it's so good to see you."
