[EVENT] 'Tis the Spooky Season...

Autumn is drawing on in the Velvet Room and its environs. The days are colder, the nights are crisper, leaves are a riot of colour ready to fall from the trees. And (besides all the pumpkin spice popping up for some reason) that means only one thing: Hallowe'en!

As the season approaches, you may undergo a mysterious transformation. Perhaps you wake up with wings, or hooves, or gills! Or perhaps your transformation will change more, go deeper... perhaps to your very soul. Who can tell? You might wake up as an animal, or a mythological creature. Or as anything at all.

Transformations will reverse on the morning of November 1st. Probably.

In the meantime, Destinyland is celebrating the holiday. Cheerful Jack-o'-Lantern Shadows have set up on street corners, handing out flyers advertising the park's seasonal festivities. In the days leading up to the 31st, Destinyland will host all the usual fun: Hallowe'en games, Trick or Treat for the babies (and the not-so-babey), the Gorb fortune teller, Shadow-run food stalls serving spooky meals and treats, and, of course, the haunted house with its array of friendly, candy-giving Shadows. Or maybe they're not so friendly.

On the night of Hallowe'en itself, there will be a parade at the park and a grand party out in the main square with food, music, and plenty of space, though characters are not obliged to attend. However, if you wish to show off your new form, see what transformations have been wrought on your fellow guests, or simply take the chance to celebrate, it may be a good opportunity...

Who knows? Perhaps you'll even see some special guests.

"Just enjoying the festivities, I suppose..." He certainly feels more forward in conversation, but that's not inherently a bad thing.

"Anything in particular that you were doing before joining me?"

Come on, be a little more talkative here.

"Well, I was in the middle of eating." He gestures with his ikayaki stick, then takes another bite.

Tasty squid.

"Can I try one? Where are those sold?"

[fogboundcrow]

"They aren't especially far." He turns around, waving Ken along.

Ken follows Raven to the stand.

"Well, let me try one!"

It's not bad.

[fogboundcrow]

"You can try as many as you wish. All food is free here." Chomp. Nice, tender squid. "There's no real currency or economic structure here."

"Interesting," answers Ken, although he already knew that. "Where does the food come from then?"

[fogboundcrow]

"It seems to simply materialize. Cognition also plays a part, as we were able to create a delicious cake that was equally nutritious by pushing the idea into the population's cognition."

At least once. It warrants more exploration, but that's neither here nor there.

"So something born from the mind can have real properties... The blur between reality and cognition around here is quite hard to grasp, if I'm honest. I'm really interested in how it works. Have you learned anything more about it?"

On top of his need for information, he is genuinely curious. There is genuine interest showing in his eyes.

"Well, to start, the TV broadcasts and movie theaters are all influenced by our cognition. Physical media is less susceptible, but there are times where an idea spread in the public's consciousness may manifest as physical products on store shelves..."

The gay chicken mascot plushies immediately come to mind, but that goes unsaid for Crow's dignity.

"So we can just think and things will appear from our thoughts?"

Go on. Say more.

"Essentially. Perhaps there are unspoken limits, but get a strong enough concept into the public's cognition here, and it will typically manifest in some way or form." A mischievous sort of smirk crosses his cute, kitty muzzle.

"That's fascinating! What are some of your best examples of changes brought that way?"

He's almost forgotten his original goal of fishing for information with this curiosity overtaking him.

He sure has a lot of questions, doesn't he? Raven hesitates for a moment. "Well, an embarrassing movie manifested as a result of a frankly terrible turn of phrase. Merchandise resulted from two people here having a... questionable and stupid interaction, and because we've had vampires, grocery stores started stocking blood."

"You almost make it sound like this place has a sense of humor."

He wouldn't even be surprised.
