Autumn is drawing on in the Velvet Room and its environs. The days are colder, the nights are crisper, leaves are a riot of colour ready to fall from the trees. And (besides all the pumpkin spice popping up for some reason) that means only one thing: Hallowe'en!

As the season approaches, you may undergo a mysterious transformation. Perhaps you wake up with wings, or hooves, or gills! Or perhaps your transformation will change more, go deeper... perhaps to your very soul. Who can tell? You might wake up as an animal, or a mythological creature. Or as anything at all.

Transformations will reverse on the morning of November 1st. ~~Probably.~~

In the meantime, Destinyland is celebrating the holiday. Cheerful Jack-o'-Lantern Shadows have set up on street corners, handing out flyers advertising the park's seasonal festivities. In the days leading up to the 31st, Destinyland will host all the usual fun: Hallowe'en games, Trick or Treat for the babies (and the not-so-babey), the Gorb fortune teller, Shadow-run food stalls serving spooky meals and treats, and, of course, the haunted house with its array of friendly, candy-giving Shadows. Or maybe they're not so friendly.

On the night of Hallowe'en itself, there will be a parade at the park and a grand party out in the main square with food, music, and plenty of space, though characters are not obliged to attend. However, if you wish to show off your new form, see what transformations have been wrought on your fellow guests, or simply take the chance to celebrate, it may be a good opportunity...

Who knows? Perhaps you'll even see some special guests.

"Oh, you're back! My intuition was right... somehow. This does not make any sense."

He then smiled at Jay.

"In any case, glad to be able to talk with you again!"

He blinked up at him. "Y-yeah." He had not moved in his lap. "What exactly was your hunch?"

"W-well," he started, a little embarrassed by Jay just casually sitting on his lap, "I thought that since petting you caused this, maybe doing the same thing would revert it?"

OH he was sitting on him still! Jay moved quickly to get off him. "Sorry," he said a bit embarrassed. "It did work."

"Then I guess that if you ever want to turn back into a fox, ask me to pet you?"

Better to frame it as something Jay had control over so it'd make the previous experience more bearable.

...although now that he thought about it, it was something pretty weird to say. His cheeks reddened a little.

He flushed immediately, oh... "Y-yeah, I'll be sure to do that." He was linked to Ken that's pretty embarrassing, but also kind of nice, he liked Ken.

Jay seemed so... happy and safe around him. Ken couldn't grasp why. It didn't make any sense at all. But right now, all that mattered was making him feel better, after all the stuff that happened today.

"So, what do you want to do now?"

He shrugged, "uh, I'm not sure. Is this a permanent thing now?" his tail hung over the seat swaying slowly.

Ken had to admit, Jay was... kinda cute like this, with his tail moving like that...

"I think Raven said it should be for Halloween, so I guess after Halloween everyone will be back to normal."

"Well, for the time being, at least I match you now in your non-humaness." He smirked, his ears wiggled a little in amusement.

"Sure, but..."

Why are you so unbothered? was left unsaid at the last second, as Ken didn't want to be rude.

"But?" he asked confused, not knowing what was going on.

"Nevermind. Glad to see you're enjoying it," he answered, his voice a little strained despite his best efforts.

"Ken, you can be honest with me." He said worried about him.

Ken sighed. He knew Jay wouldn't give up until getting the truth out of him.

"It's just... I mean. Becoming more like me isn't a good thing."

"You aren't a bad thing, Ken." He head butted him.

"I'm just... an abomination now."

He took off his gloves and showed his hands, deformed and damaged. They still look like human hands, but ravaged and almost like if someone had nibbled on them, and also nearly completely taken over by the same black Ken has on his face. It's really not pretty.

"See?"

He looked down at his hands. If only he was completely normal to hold those hands in his instead of these paws that he struggled to fumble around. He tried to hold his hands. "Ken, you are more than an abomination, especially to me. You mean a lot to me, you mean... everything to me. Even if this became more of you, then so be it, It's still you."

Ken was completely lost for words. He opened and closed his mouth several times.

Jay's reaction wasn't repulsion. It wasn't pity. It wasn't even compassion or indifference. It was... affection? When laying his eyes on something so disgusting, his first thought was to like them? It was incomprehensible to Ken.

But it also... it meant so much. It meant so, so much. It created a wave of unknown emotion that submerged him completely. It wasn't a bad feeling.

...and it made the normal parts of his face very red indeed.

He smiled at him, just sat and smiled, letting him process, watching him turn red. He did however just let him be, let him sit in the affection and care.

"I've seen monsters in my life Ken, you aren't one of them."

He started crying a little, but the tears weren't sad tears.

"Jay... I know you sincerely mean this. How can you find beauty in something so unholy?"

"Because it's you, and who else would I find that amazing. Even when you don't see it others do."

"That's what I don't get. You don't just like me, like Raven or Wagtail-kun. You... you like me more than most other people. And that's what I really don't get. Even if I'm not just an abomination, surely I don't deserve this? What do you even find amazing about me?"

"Because I'm not classifying you as that. You are just some guy. That I click with better than Raven or Wagtail-kun." he shrugged, "You deserve it all the same as anyone else does. Plus I think you are neat in a lot of ways like the way you've been there for me, and we even moved in together which I think was a pretty big move."

"W-Well, I guess if you mean all of that... I still don't understand it, but... well."

He looked away and kept blushing.

"Not even sure what I'm trying to say. But I like making you happy. So if I can do it, that's nice."
