[MINGLE] chocolate and roses
It's Valentine's Day, and that means just one thing for the inhabitants of the Velvet Room: chaos.
And chocolate, possibly. Or even something else? Or perhaps you're spending the holiday entirely by yourself?
[[ooc: just a quick catchall post for any toplevels or threads people might want to make for the holiday! Feel free to make inbox or journal posts as well.]]

... Seems he isn't quite done smoking yet.

As soon as she's off, Akira follows quickly- glancing at the counter. This was still one of the more rundown cafes, thankfully which meant that there was still plenty of space to weave around one of the cognition-being?? baristas?? and brew a few cups to steadfast their day forward. Should they find an open booth, Akira's lips would quirk up, commenting- "Also do you know you can just shoo off any of the cognitions here to get the seat that you want? Maybe shooing is a bit harsh, they just part like the Red Sea honestly."

Sigh. No, no, Kira saved his life. The least he can do is show the bare minimum of respect, and sit with them for a bit. So, he pushes open the door, quickly spotting the duo.
"No coffee yet? Hm, how slow..." he comments, settling across Hamuko.

He scoots further in, eyes darting back and forth before he grins. "I guess since there's like...three people working at the counter and dealing with the customers, its probably going to take some time."
Placing the chocolate basket on the table, his foot taps against the ground. Since its an independent cafe the coffee really shouldn't be a problem. "You were pretty quick though, like five minutes ish? I was tempted to train a cat to harass you into coming here if you took too long. I mentioned it to Hamuko."

Hamuko laughed a bit, gesturing for Corvus to sit. Welcome!!
"At least sitting out in the cold will make the hot coffee even nicer to drink. You've got that going in your favor!"
no subject
He doesn't, though, staying put regardless of his words.
"Speaking of hot coffee," he turns to Kira, raising an eyebrow. "You still haven't made any? And here I thought you were some kind of expert... perhaps I was mistaken after all."
A small smile tugs at his lips despite his words.

His eyes widen as he releases a quick click of a tongue. It totally slipped his mind. Better get to it then, he can get something sorted. "Okay okay, someone's really eager. How about you have that chocolate in the meantime then-? Or oh- maybe even pouring coffee on chocolate...hm, I think there's a french hot chocolate variant of that-!" With that, he gets up and shuffles across Corvus and hums, scratching his chin before leaning forward and grabbing his basket.
"While I make the coffee I am gonna go ahead and torment some of the couples' here," he grins. "See you guys in a bit!"
And with that, he's already off. Valentine's day is over people.

"He sure brings a lot of energy wherever he goes!" she remarked, fishing for Kou's thoughts.

Kou sighs, leaning on his elbow as he watches Kira work behind the bar.
"... But perhaps it's not so bad," he murmurs, mostly to himself. He does have Kira to thank for helping to escape Maruki. There were many points where he could've left Kou behind, or used him as a meat shield, but he didn't. How sentimental.
It almost reminds him of-
-well, nevermind. Amamiya isn't here to fuck things up more.

assuming a few minutes have passed
Kira pops right up, basket in one hand and a small tray he had helped himself with by rumaging through the area- now housing three cups of coffee. His presence could have barely been heard unless you are a keen observer.
He quickly sets the basket further inside to where he was originally sitting.
Now he moves all too casually, setting the tray down, a small milk jug clinking as he grabs one cup while a cognition, one of the "men" are suddenly seen rushing after behind him to the bathroom, fanning their tongue along the way as Kira only seems too unbothered.
With one cup expertly held in one hand and the other holding the jug, he aims an innocent smile- like he wasn’t just responsible for sending a cognition to one kf the washrooms. "So watchu guys want me to draw? I can draw a cute rose or a heart if you are a classic enjoyer."

He stares at Kira a moment longer, before shrugging.
"I don't care. Do whatever you like, honestly," he says- before correcting himself. "Anything except put spices in my coffee, before you even think about it."

literally mention of the peepee
At both their requests, he finally chuckled, shaking his head. “Okay, guys, I am not actually putting spices in your coffee—Sojiro would jump dimensions just to murder me if I served a butchered cup,” he snorted. Then, with a slight pause, he added, “Though, I have tried it in one of the timeline—er, I mean—one of the times.”
He stopped himself, lips pressing together. Nope. Time travel was only casual conversation with his Goro Akechi. Dang. He pivoted quickly, flashing Hamuko a wink. “But you know, Hamuko, I’ll take you up on that spice idea one of these days.”
And with that, he got to work.
A few minutes after and purposeful strokes now drawn across the canvas of his carefully crafted coffee- he sets the two cups before their respective drinkers.
He poured her coffee with an experimental touch—pulling the shot a few seconds longer to bring out a deeper caramelized note, just enough to balance out the delicate floral sweetness he folded in. A hint of vanilla and a whisper of cinnamon, subtle but noticeable. Not enough to overpower—just enough to intrigue.
The rose he crafted into the foam was delicate, the petals curling just so, a bit of artistry in every stroke. When he set it before her, he grinned, feigning a dramatic sigh.
“Didn’t have a rose on me for this date, sooo—hope this suffices,” he said, voice light with teasing.
For Corvus, he went with something classic, the kind of coffee that didn’t need anything fancy—full-bodied, just the right balance of bitterness and depth, smoothed out with the perfect amount of cream. The sweetness wasn’t cloying, just a touch of well-tempered sugar to round out the edges.
And in the foam?
Something truly masterful.
A penis.
Kira slid the cup across the table with the practiced ease of a man serving a fine-crafted drink, the picture absolutely ruining the air of sophistication he was trying to keep.
"Oops," he said with no actual remorse, "looks like the heart got botched—sorry."

Instead, he just accepts his coffee, looking down at it and- yeah, he doesn't know what he expected.
"Very mature," he deadpans, fixing Kira with a look as he lifts the coffee...
... and takes a sip, still staring straight in Kira's eyes. He hums, some foam clinging to his upper lip as he puts it back down, letting the flavor sit in his mouth.
"Acceptable," he says, which might as well be Kou-speak for 'that was delicious'.

("One of the timelines"? Hmm...)
Still!! The latte art for hers... god, it was so pretty, what an incredible talent. Hamuko almost felt too guilty to drink it and ruin the pattern. But it smelled so incredible... gently cupping the coffee cup in both hands, enjoying the warmth on her fingers, she took a slow and contemplative sip of her coffee. And oh... it was deeply complex and flavorful, even with the sweetness and cream. It was a dessert without being cloying, dancing on her palate gently, and for a few minutes she was just... absorbed in tasting it, in drinking it and appreciating it.

His smile did ease up as his shoulders sunk, satisfied to see both of them liked the coffee. He bows with ease, a showman's demeanour flourishing as he picked up his own cup and waited for either of them to shuffle into the booth so he take a seat. Or not. He doesn't mind standing either. "I figured from our conversations that you two would have sort of different tastes soo I experimented a little bit with her cup and I brought out a sweeter profile in the other, hehe."
Though maybe not, not after the whole debacle with the tapes.
"Cleansed your palletes yet?" Considering Corvus had just smoked and Hamuko had a spicy chocolate.

"It's fine," Kou replies, taking another sip of the coffee. It is quite good... mm. Maybe Kira's is even better than Ren's, but he's definitely not telling him that.

It's so good, it has Hamuko swinging her feet a little happily. "This is almost as good as Shinji's cooking can be. So pleasant...!"
hdhdhd sorry my subscribers expired and it stopped tracking
At Hamuko’s obvious compliment Kira did get caught off guard a little, keeping the grin threatening to surface up because he might look like an idiot. "My efforts paid off then, I am happy to see it."
Leblanc's coffee is to die for to be fair. He wasn't even that much of a fan until Sojiro made me wear the apron. "I could teach you guys someday if you want."
