A strange invitation

[OOC: Locked to the users tagged in the post!]

Raven's message had been... curious, to say the least.

Falcon's still not sure what to make of it; he clearly hurt Raven quite a lot, and nearly killed him- a child- over bad-mouthing Shido. Not that he could help it, but still...

Perhaps he wants to pledge his eternal loyalty to Shido-san this time! We did show what a great man Shido-san was, after all!

... Right. Not likely.

Really now, he'd rather get this over with as quickle as possible. He doesn't even know why this couldn't have been done over text, but he's already agreed to meet up in Shibuya. Not that he could really refuse; no schedule means no excuse means no reason to politely decline. Any info he gains could be useful for Shido-san!

The trains here are strange, and before he knows it, he's arrived in Shibuya station, stepping out alongside a sea of cognitions, carefully avoiding bumping into one; a habit he's gotten quite good at, since he is a little... more sturdy than the average human. He allows himself to follow them as they go out to the streets, before he finds a quieter corner to himself. His scanners don't pick up sight of Raven quite yet- maybe the boy has yet to arrive.

With his ever-polite smile painted on his face, he leans against the outer wall of the station entrance. Raven probably won't be long- or maybe he set up Falcon, and is making him wait for nothing. Not undeserved, really- but that's a rather mean-spirited reading of the situation. He knows himself, he's not the type to do that, even if Raven is... a child. He doesn't think he'd do that, didn't seem the type either.

For now, all he can do is wait, so he does. He has nothing to lose from doing so, after all.

"Happy to oblige." As they stand there and cool down, he removes his phone from his pocket, sending a message to the Akechi Alliance group chat. "Ren... I may need to talk to you about that outburst earlier, just so we're on the same page. But that can wait. I believe Falcon is of greater priority at this time."

As such, Crow turns to the recovering robot. "...Raven is sorry, by the way. I don't believe any of us wished to harm you in such a way, and I think a majority of us can understand the cruel sting of betrayal. We acted out of... I'm not certain if 'necessity' is a fair way to put it, but we knew that a straightforward approach would have ended in failure."

"Yeah. If you have anyone to be mad at, it's me. A lot of this was my plan, which. Par for the fucking course, exploded in our faces." He sighed. Summoned Robert to spread a little healing around. Mediarama sure wasn't Salvation, but every little bit helped.

"Is Raven okay? I mean I know he isn't, but is he physically unhurt?"

Ren doesn't take his eyes off Falcon, even when Crow addresses him. That lack of discipline is how you fucking die. But his lips flatten into a grim, unwelcoming line.

"Physically, Raven is fine. He is with Ken, and by the sound of it, they'll be returning home soon. Magpie knows they're en route, and I gave a brief update on the operation. So, I suppose now we just have to wait."

And so, like Ren, he directs his attention to Falcon, waiting for his next move.

He knew what this looked like. So he approached. Unarmed, palms facing Falcon. Not-so-subtly placing himself between Falcon and the others.

"Took away Shido's restraints. That's all, and you have my word on that. Right, Futaba? Look- all of us know what Masayoshi Shido is like. Really like, not what he shows to the media. Half of us know, personally, what it's like to be under his thumb. One of us died at his hand. Every single person here came here to help you get away from that."

"I am... truly sorry it went down like this. Based on how you reacted when the subject of the Metaverse came up, and Shido, and everything else- there wasn't a way I could think of to get your consent for this. It was the best of a lot of shitty options."

...Ren was right to be cautious, is what he's getting from this.

He doesn't draw a weapon or summon Veles; nothing has quite called for it, and the situation is fraught enough without him escalating it. But his hand tightens on his holstered gun, and unlike Phoenix, who seems to be trying out an apologetic angle, he watches Falcon in grim silence.

She pretty much expected this. "Relax, your okay. No one is going to hurt you." That was pointed at Ren. A stand down sort of thing.

"You have an internal log of everything. You can check against what I say. Then I need to run a few tests to make sure you are running properly."

She couldn't exactly do what she did best for people to relax. That wasn't possible for a robot. She didn't know if he could feel.

"I implemented a file, one that treated Shido's like malware, isolating it and everything it controlled. Then deleting it. The new file now provides you with a detailed explanation of what someone does to you, an option to over ride it yourself, which means we can't do this again. That means Shido can't either."

The next step was something Ren really wouldn't like. So she took a breath. "Falcon, I need you to use your persona and attack me, but don't kill me. Then switch and do the same. The other test is smaller and just a simple say 'fuck shido.'" Then she smiled widely, not like someone who just asked to be attacked.

"What?"

If Futaba had said that ten seconds sooner, it would've all been over; the lingering effects of Call of Chaos would've had Ren calling Veles down to destroy Falcon before he could touch her. He's more in his right mind now, better able to process, but even so, he's not fucking happy.

"Nee-san, does it have to be you?" he says in a halfhearted attempt at an undertone. "You're exhausted. I can take a couple hits." He wants to say, Don't you fucking dare; if you have to attack someone, attack me. But he has a bad feeling that the test isn't whether Falcon can attack one of them but whether he can attack Futaba, specifically.

"I could switch back to Helel if you needed to test a physical attack. I would absorb it with ease, and if elemental coverage is needed, he is also immune to Bless and Curse."

Ergo, he would be the ideal target. In fact, he eyes Falcon wryly. "Perhaps it would even help you blow off some steam, given the circumstances."

"No, it has to be me. I rooted around and messed with his head." She shook her head. She knew the others would want to take the hit for her, and she was pretty drained on energy after being in her persona that long, but energy and health were different things. She could handle this.

"...Let's give him space," Crow says because he knows that otherwise, the others may try to make chase. "Even if what we did helps him in the long run, he has every right to be furious with us. We acted without consent, much like Shido did. Our intentions don't change the fact that it was likely a harrowing experience."

Not that he expects everyone to be on board. The important thing now is that it's over.

Phoenix let out a soft, deeply-fatigued sigh. "Well, he took that about as well as could be expected."

Renée frowned, still staring at the space where he'd been just moments ago. "I don't understand. I thought he'd be... happy?"

"It doesn't work like that. He's pretty rightfully pissed that we ambushed him like this, and the subject of Shido's always been a complicated one. All we can do is give him space. He's Goro Akechi, you think he's gonna pick up what we're trying to tell him the first time through?"

In spite of everything that had gone wrong today, she smiled. "I suppose that's true. Bull-headedness does run in the breed."

The Goetia snorted, but turned to the others. "While we're at it. Crow, you okay? You were carrying that battle, pretty much on your back. This whole operation was... kind of a clusterfuck. But everyone walked away and we accomplished our goal against a superior enemy with... a lot of shit we did not come prepped for. Who the hell made Call of Chaos a goddamn AoE, I call bullshit."

"I'll be all right. If anything, I'm just grateful that it's over." He heaves a heavy sigh. "None of us could have anticipated that he'd have backup combat protocols. We were blindsided, but the important thing is that we did it, and now the rest falls upon Falcon, whether he forgives us or resents us."

He does a little stretch, grateful that Salvation spared him any lingering pain from Ren's thrashing. "If anything, I fully anticipate that my boyfriend is going to drag me up to our room for the rest of the night."

Read what you will into that.

"That's gross, Crow." She sighed, to keep herself from snapping. She really wanted to deck something. He didn't fully disappear. He did however do something to try and mask his tracking. So, she removed him herself. Then if anyone else still could see him, they couldn't anymore. She'd send a text later.

Yeah they got it somewhat taken care of. He ran off scared, and now alone. She tapped her foot in a bit of nerves and annoyance. The call of chaos was still affecting her. Probably from the prolonged use with him.

Ren looks at Futaba and decides not to push her. Instead, rolling his shoulders in a restless little stretch, he rakes his gaze over the cognitive buildings around them.

"Cool. Glad no one died. If that's it, I'm gonna leave." It makes him itch to think about staying here with a group of people who witnessed him under the effect of... it must have been Call of Chaos, though actually being hit with it was way worse than he expected. He could handle Futaba's presence, though in all honesty he's rather just be alone. But the others... no. Especially Crow. God. He's doing a good job of disguising it, but he hasn't looked at Crow once since the battle ended, except to favor him with the same glare he was giving everyone else.

Instead of just walking off or kicking them all out of the Metaverse with his phone, however, he gives Futaba another appraising glance. No matter what he claims, if she's not ready to go, he won't just leave her here by herself.

She was still, processing. Ren wanted to leave, yeah, that's fine. She chewed on her lip a bit. Then dusted herself off. "Head on back. I've got some things to do still." She could tell Ren didn't want to be around people, and frankly she didn't either. She turned to face him and gave him that fake smile, "I'll see you for dinner. You're cooking." Gives them both time to cool off, and keep Goro from asking too many questions.

Ren doesn't reply in words, but he raises his eyebrows a little and tries to convey through facial expression alone something like, You sure? I can hang out.

She gave a nod. For once she was glad someone read through her expressions. They'd talk about it later, but later was not now. She just need to come up with what to say, if it would be the truth or a lie.
