Greetings, everyone.

Originally, I was going to inquire about everyone's thoughts on birthdays and whether or not to adjust for time discrepancies between here and back home, but then I stumbled upon something most peculiar.

This is a real site, and it seems to be run largely by the cognitions. There are stories about us, and many of them are quite absurd.

One of the summaries is...

"Falcon struggles with whether or not to honestly answer a captcha."

And then there's...

"Aki-chan brings home a pet dinosaur and has to hide it in his closet."

There are... interesting stories about myself and some of the people I am close to. There's even a fic about Igor's supposed history as a heartbreaker.

But perhaps the most perplexing is a bizarre love triangle between Falcon, Phoenix, and the Ren that goes by Fiend.

At any rate, read at your own discretion. I think it's all rather absurd and worth a laugh, but there is the ethical concern of our likenesses being used without consent.

not what most people mean by 'go fuck yourself', but I suppose from an objective standpoint the primary warnings against anything similar are 1) the predatory nature that such relationships are prone to in a familial setting and 2) the risk of causing genetic defects, which

the issue sidesteps both? it's certainly strange, but there isn't really a valid argument against it

Oh, certainly, I would never condone a romantic relationship between family members.

What we have is simply a matter of inevitability. My Shadow and I are intrinsically linked. Even if I can summon him, by default he resides within me.

Ergo, he experiences all of my senses and is privy to any romantic entanglements Ren and I are a part of.

By including him, at least he has more control of his involvement in our relationship.

How... does that work, anyway

I mean, if your Shadow somehow has his own independent identity from you it's really no different from being in a relationship with someone with DID or conjoined twins

...

now i'm wondering how tf that even works, actually, how do you reconcile differences if one part of the arrangement consents but another...

this is probably not the venue to talk about this and it's probably wildly personal

My Shadow has a tendency to not value his own agency as a separate person, despite him having an independent ego for years. He's made some connections with others, but generally struggles to understand why I'd want to give him opportunities to stretch his legs andkjhhk

In my defense, most Shadows are content to serve as Personas when accepted. It's not as though the average Persona user would do what we have.

Uh. Well, from one cognitive being to another, I suppose, if he ever wants to be social, I guess my door is open?

I'm trying to convince him to socialize more. His movement range may be somewhat limited when summoned outside of cognitive spaces, but I do think he could benefit from better establishing himself.

He's just always seen himself as secondary, I suppose.
