[EVENT] Memory Tapes

On the morning of November 21st, denizens in the Velvet Room will awake to a message on their phones or by their bedsides in an envelope. Perhaps even on their computer screens.

Greetings! If you've received this message, then you've been selected as a participant in a new activity to strengthen bonds within this community.

In order to facilitate connections with your fellow residents, we advise you to watch this video. Watch it and return the tape to its rightful owner. If you lacked the means to watch VHS tapes before, we have provided you with the necessary equipment.

Failure to do so may put your own memories at risk. Do not be selfish, lest you find yourself struggling to recall crucial moments of your life. You have no way of knowing which memories have been shared, so ask yourself if it is worth the risk to selfishly hoard another's secrets.

They will soon find a VHS tape, with a case that gives off a soft, blue glow to symbolize its importance. If they lack a TV or VCR, they will find one in their living space.

What they do is up to them, but they should heed the warning, if they value their own memories.

Ken hugs him back, very tightly. He's still shaking. He's not completely lost in his own mind as he has been in the past however, he probably just needs some time to calm down.

That's all right. Raven holds him, his grip firm but not crushing. The important part is that Ken knows he's not alone.

After a few minutes, Ken calms down enough to be coherent. He breaks the hug and sits down on the couch.

"...I'm going to be the main suspect, aren't I?"

[fogboundcrow]

"I won't let that happen." Raven sits down beside him, good and close. "Crow won't either, nor will Wagtail."

[vessel_ken_amada]

"And I'm so grateful for this, but... what are the odds of another Ken having powers similar to mine? Won't that make it hard for others to trust you?"

[fogboundcrow]

"Crow and I both coexist. Wagtail and Magpie as well." He speaks unflinchingly, offering a hand if Ken needs it. "For all we know, he's an alternate version of you. Stranger things have happened here."

[vessel_ken_amada]

"You're right. But him being an alternative version of myself is scary in its own right. Do I really have the potential of becoming like this...?"

[fogboundcrow]

"Think of it this way. Multiverse theory suggests that there is a reality for every choice you could feasibly make, regardless of whether or not you would. Just because he behaves this way doesn't mean that you will."

[vessel_ken_amada]

Ken chuckles a little.

"You're making it sound so simple... but I guess you might be right."

He then sighs, his mood instantly souring.

"But regardless of whether or not that part is solved, there's still the problem of someone incredibly dangerous being at large... I considered whether Falcon-san might be lying at first, seeing how we loathe each other, but I don't think he is. It'd be easy to come to him and ask him to show the tape, and he's smarter than that."

[fogboundcrow]

"Aren't I always right?" It's a joke. Hopefully it'll even make Ken laugh. "You're right, though. This does warrant extreme caution. I don't believe Falcon would lie, but I doubt the other Ken will be thrilled once suspicion falls upon him, and if he shares your abilities..."

Well. That hardly bodes well.

Well, that does make him smile, at least. It's quickly gone, however, with how the conversation turns.

"I think the scariest thing is that we know nothing of his motives..."

[fogboundcrow]

"We don't, but at the very least, we can protect each other." Raven quiets for a moment, bringing a hand to his chin. "...Perhaps I can convince Sagiri-san to do something more proactive, given our 'bond.'"

[vessel_ken_amada]

"Are you sure we can trust Sagiri-san? ...But yes, I'll do my best to not let you come to harm..."

He seems uncertain.

[fogboundcrow]

"I'm certain I can have my way with him, given our existing bond. If nothing else, I can appeal to his pride and his boredom." Hey, look. Raven even manages a playful smirk.

It'll be okay.

[vessel_ken_amada]

Ken smiles a little in return.

"Well, I'll trust you on this. If you can pull it off, it would be a big help."

[fogboundcrow]

"If I must, I'll keep persisting until he bends to my will." His tone radiates confidence, yet an odd sincerity.

There's a chance he's being dead serious here.

"If anyone can do it, it's you."

Ken trusts his best friend.
