[EVENT] Memory Tapes
On the morning of November 21st, denizens in the Velvet Room will awake to a message on their phones or by their bedsides in an envelope. Perhaps even on their computer screens.
Greetings! If you've received this message, then you've been selected as a participant in a new activity to strengthen bonds within this community.
In order to facilitate connections with your fellow residents, we advise you to watch this video. Watch it and return the tape to its rightful owner. If you lacked the means to watch VHS tapes before, we have provided you with the necessary equipment.
Failure to do so may put your own memories at risk. Do not be selfish, lest you find yourself struggling to recall crucial moments of your life. You have no way of knowing which memories have been shared, so ask yourself if it is worth the risk to selfishly hoard another's secrets.
They will soon find a VHS tape, with a case that gives off a soft, blue glow to symbolize its importance. If they lack a TV or VCR, they will find one in their living space.
What they do is up to them, but they should heed the warning, if they value their own memories.
[For links to characters' memories, please see this post in the OOC comm. Have fun!]

[Bitter laughter creeps out of him.]
I know a thing or two about betrayal myself. I've even been the one to twist the knife...
[He doesn't sound especially proud of that fact, however.]
no subject
[No judgement here. Teenagers do dumb shit all the time.]
no subject
[Really, the lack of judgment from Shinjiro is just as offputting. Is he not at all concerned?]
no subject
Besides, after the shit her grandfather and Ikutsuki pulled... she's the type to vet things thoroughly, but also know when someone was more a victim than not.
no subject
[Of course it'd be something like that.]
Well, it's still preferable to prison. I just wonder how tightly she'll tie the leash.
no subject
No tighter than she absolutely has to. Otherwise it ain't much of a second chance.
no subject
[He's seen them around. Well, one of them, at any rate.]
I suppose that's reassuring to hear, though I trust you understand that I'll reserve judgment until I see for myself.
no subject
[To be fair, Shinji is responsible for Ken's mom's death.]
Good, you should. I can tell you she'll have your back till I'm blue in the face, but it can't and shouldn't mean shit until you see it for yourself.
no subject
[His overall demeanor spoke for itself. Their conversation still resurfaces in his mind somewhat frequently.]
Though, I'll admit, I'm surprised you're not defending your friend more staunchly.
no subject
[If anything, that's only likely to make them worse.]
no subject
[Hey, look at that. He's even smiling a little.]
Though, perhaps that's to be expected with so many of me present.

no subject
[Sure, the deaths would be temporary, but if anything, that ought to incentivize more reckless abandon.]
no subject
Done my fair share of stupid shit. Can't really hold stupid shit against anyone else.
no subject
[Ugh. He's cringing at how stupid it all was in hindsight.]
Suffice it to say, I did not anticipate becoming an assassin at the time.
no subject
[It doesn't make much of a difference. But one of those options is shittier than the other, for sure.
Shinji sighs.] Long as we're being honest about shit. I lost control of my Persona and Ken's mom died for it. By the time I got it under control again, half their damn house was caved in. It was an accident, but I was still ready to let him kill me for it. Figured I didn't deserve any better.
no subject
[And he did it. He obeyed the orders, seldom showing any resistance. It was a pitiful existence...
But Shinji's own admission draws his focus squarely back to him.]
I'm surprised to hear you lost control. That obviously doesn't erase the gravity of the situation, mind you.
[Not that he expects Shinjiro to feel that way. His own guilt is crystal clear, and there's little sense in berating him over what's long since passed.
Though, in Amada's position, he would have been just as ruthless. To lose one's mother in such a way...]
no subject
No. It doesn't. His mom's still dead and I still have to live with that, and so does he.
Didn't even get his hit in before the fuckface with the gun showed up, and then I wasn't gonna let him shoot a grade-schooler.
