On the morning of November 21st, denizens in the Velvet Room will awake to a message on their phones or by their bedsides in an envelope. Perhaps even on their computer screens.

Greetings! If you've received this message, then you've been selected as a participant in a new activity to strengthen bonds within this community. In order to facilitate connections with your fellow residents, we advise you to watch this video. Watch it and return the tape to its rightful owner. If you lacked the means to watch VHS tapes before, we have provided you with the necessary equipment. Failure to do so may put your own memories at risk. Do not be selfish, lest you find yourself struggling to recall crucial moments of your life. You have no way of knowing which memories have been shared, so ask yourself if it is worth the risk to selfishly hoard another's secrets.

They will soon find a VHS tape, with a case that gives off a soft, blue glow to symbolize its importance. If they lack a TV or VCR, they will find one in their living space.

What they do is up to them, but they should heed the warning, if they value their own memories.

Well, it's certainly an eye-catching name.

Shrike left some notes on the board about it. Seems it was a result of his own experimentation, based on the Shibuya he left behind.

[He doesn't have the note memorized, but it does open up some fascinating possibilities, if nothing else.]

Fascinating. We'd have our work cut out for us, in terms of keeping newcomers informed about changes we wanted to make permanent, but maybe something could be changed on a larger scale if we're committed enough.

Shrike may at least have some ideas for ways we can more easily manipulate our surroundings.

[A small smile takes hold at the mere prospect. So many possibilities...]

Though it's funny how Sumaru City so easily lends itself to alterations by default.

And a bit unnerving. I don't think I'd be comfortable staying there, with everything that malleable. At least here, there's some stability.

Oh, I agree. There's a certain novelty to the rumors, but between the demons and the unsettling space ship hovering in the sky, it leaves quite the impression.

[On one hand, space ships are cool. On the other hand, this one is foreboding.]

It really does, doesn't it.

Still, there may be something to learn from how malleable it is, if taken in moderation.

True. It could be beneficial in testing the extreme limits of cognition, and my cake experiment already proved that we can push the boundaries of logic even outside of Sumaru.

[Granted, it was just a cake at a party, so maybe that's why? There's room for improvement, at any rate.]

Did you successfully wrangle yourself a nutritious cake?

At the anniversary party, as a matter of fact. Quite the achievement, really.

[He flashes a grin, pleased with the results, even if it has been a few months now.]

But how have the gardens been holding up? It is starting to get colder now...

It is, but anything that can't handle winter weather already has cover, if it needs it.

Do you have any advice? Crow seems to be getting ready for the winter season again, but you and Noir-san certainly have more of an expertise where gardening is concerned.

[Then again, perhaps he's underselling Crow, since somebody had to tend to the garden even after Yu left in his time.]

It depends entirely on what he's planted, but I'm sure he has it well in hand. If he doesn't, he's welcome to ask.

I suppose I can always let him know. ...Or, well. Perhaps I don't need to.

[A sheepish smile takes hold.]

Sometimes even I forget about the memory link.

It must be the sort of thing that would fade into the background after a while. Still, I can't say I'd enjoy dealing with it myself.

[Not least because she wouldn't know how to stop that oncoming hell before it started.]

I'm sure Crow still bears the brunt of it, but I suppose it's just that I don't feel as though we're synonymous. I'd like to think my path has diverged in many ways.

[But he shrugs, because despite the divergence, that connection remains.]

Of course it has. He didn't experience this place at thirteen. You did.

[It's a bit like Magpie and Wagtail, in that respect.]

Well, what's odd is he remembered this place when he arrived, but only up to what I had experienced. His memories were being written in real time, as if shrouded in fog...

[He crosses his arms, a crease in his brow.]

I suppose it might be a chicken and egg situation, at least in theory. Obviously, we've diverged by this point, yet he continues to receive memories from me.

Whatever the cause, we may not fully understand it. It's hardly the strangest thing about this place anyway.

True. I still think the existence of "Gorbs" is rather high up there.

[Why orbs? What's the symbolism behind it? The world may never know...]

It truly is. I admit I haven't bothered much with TV here.

[Not like it's even all that necessary as a news source, especially now that they have a texting network.]

I prefer books and physical media. Movies and games are generally more reliable, but sometimes curiosity gets the best of me.

[He pauses.]

I may have tried in vain to figure out the method to the madness.
