[network][locked from warped_ken_amada and any character under 10] anti-evil baby task force

[ The following initial paragraph is added on December 19th, following Zenkichi's arrival. ]
NOTICE TO ALL NEWCOMERS: SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT AMADA, THE PLANNING, AND THE SITUATION EXCEPT IN THIS POST. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, ASK THEM HERE AND SOMEONE WILL ANSWER THEM. FOR FUCK'S SAKE *DON'T ASK PUBLICLY WHAT WE'RE ALL TALKING ABOUT IN LOCKED POSTS*

hey everyone (except amada and kiddos)

in case any of you aren't aware of the situation, one of the ken amadas killed falcon a couple days ago, then made a network post threatening the rest of us. so obv we need to neutralize him

i made my own post to collect ideas abt how to do that. this is part 2, and i'm gonna update this one with new info so pls save it and come back to it

THINGS WE KNOW

the most important new info is that if amada is killed, igor won't bring him back. he'll be dead forever. so killing him is back on the table in theory, though how to do that/whether we can do that is a question mark

i sent frog to ask igor & co some questions. they were p forthcoming by their standards. if anyone didn't know, they've said they didn't bring amada in. frog learned some interesting new stuff, too, such as the death thing. also: igor has less control over amada than he does over the rest of us, which we kinda already knew. when frog asked who brought amada to the velvet room if not igor, he said "he brought himself (|||❛︵❛.)" and then he didn't answer any followup questions such as, so how many other people can sense this place from the outside, and can they get in too

igor also confirmed that he would be willing to temporarily lift the restrictions on sagiri's powers to deal with amada

amada caused non-fatal harm to someone who went after him, so murder is not his *only* weapon. he can also do broken bones (* ^ ω ^) he also made it so that bone couldn't be healed, so it's a more serious issue than a lot of us are used to. that said, he's still threatened to kill any and all of us, and after falcon we should be taking that seriously

another amada wrote up this info for combat. READ THIS if you think you're likely to see combat with the psycho amada, and maybe even if you don't think so. DO NOT VOLUNTEER TO FIGHT until you've read it

IDEAS

lotus has said that he may be able to exert control over amada by receiving his name. he can't guarantee that it'll work tho

lotus also has another possible trick up his sleeve, more dangerous to everyone including him. frog and i know abt it tho so we can be thinking abt it, and if all else fails, we can all discuss it then

like i said above, sagiri is willing to use his god-level powers, though he hasn't explained what he would be doing w them

if igor agrees to unleash kira as well, kira might be able to possess amada and lower his defenses, and help get the rest of us out of danger

aragaki has brought up using amada's mother as a weak spot

we may be able to create rumors in sumaru that work to our advantage if we fight him there

shrike may be able to use psychic abilities to affect amadas state of mind. this is unpredictable and risky, probably best used if things are already looking grim

PREV IDEAS THAT NOW LOOK LESS GOOD

phoenix and renée have brought up swords that block regeneration. but they would have to strike a killing blow with the sword. to start with, other amada thought that might be impossible, and we also know now that a killing blow will be fatal no matter what weapon

maruki's actualization probably wouldn't work, and if it did it wouldn't stick, according to phoenix who has been actualized

FIGHTING

we're fucked if we don't at least get ready for a fight. it's gonna be rough (READ OTHER AMADA'S WRITEUP) but we've heard some thoughts

other amada is willing to train with us, starting in a few days

crow believes that bonds will be important in making wild cards stronger for upcoming battles

rose is going to look into items that pierce elemental resistance, including growing new plants w noir. the plants might or might not be ready in time

given the new info, i've cut some people from the fight list. i can vouch for the strength of most people who were in my palace. anyone else, i don't know as well. really think abt whether you're up to standard before volunteering. the current list of people who're up for a fight is as follows

-me
-frog
-glitch
-phoenix
-spades
-crow
-joker
-magpie
-falcon
-vampire ren
-briar
-renée
-hasegawa
-suou
-raven
-wild
-karasu
-amada

as well as the other amada, who is on another level than the rest of us

to stay on the list, train with not-psycho amada and work on defensively-oriented strats. once amada is ready to train, we'll set up a schedule

WHAT WE NEED RN (besides training + collecting items)

input on the ideas. we have a lot of "maybe it'll work"s and no "this will definitely work"s, so we need to decide on which maybes to try first and which to hold off on as a plan B, plan C, etc

to add/correct/remove ideas or volunteer/unvolunteer, reply to this post. if u wanna talk to me in person, i'll be taking care of leblanc for the next several days while frog goes on a research binge. after that, go to leblanc anyway and if i'm not already there, frog will summon me

the situation is shitty, but i don't think anyone here wants to sit around and let someone threaten our lives. if nothing else, amada seems like the kind of guy who would fuck up a little kid if they got in his way, and we have little akira and little goro wandering around. we've come together for less, some of us have killed gods, so we can come together and get rid of this threat now

[Harsh, but fair. Doubtful this boy really wants to talk to Katsuya, after all.]

In Sumaru City, rumors become reality. These rumors don't even have to make sense. A bar can suddenly sell weapons if enough people hear and spread the rumor. Someone may end up a former spy, or go from an ordinary street vendor to having ties to the Italian Mafia, purely by word of mouth.

It's a dangerous power when abused, and most effective if the rumors are placed on a large platform with reputable people backing them. Our enemies, the New World Order, gained a stranglehold on the public's perception by using TV personalities to propagate Wang Long fortune telling and spreading word about the Joker Curse and "kegare".

They even put on seminars to lure the masses into the palm of their hands.

My teammates and I would generally use the rumors on a smaller scale, or by spreading counter-rumors.

The most dangerous thing would be to let this information reach your enemy, but it's clear that won't happen. You're all putting forth a tremendous effort to coordinate a plan, and I think if you all could reach a consensus on a rumor to spread, you'd be able to set up a trap.

In our case, we used the Kuzunoha Detective Agency, but you may be able to achieve similar results through the network or through television.

Figuring out the precise limitations is tricky. Even something as outlandish as Sumaru resting on top of a space ship became true, but you could argue that rumor had the strength of generations of conspiracy theories backing it up.

In this case, everyone already believes that this boy is extremely dangerous, and with good reason from what I can tell. Given how threatening he is, you'd have to contend with existing perceptions.

But I think there are ways to work around it.

For instance, you could spread a rumor that anyone who wears a specific emblem is immune to his abilities. It worked for the Joker Curse.

Or you could spread a rumor that his powers are limited to nonexistent within Sumaru.

It might take some clever loopholes, but I don't think it's hopeless. You just have to come up with something and spread it in such a way that you don't draw his attention until it's in effect.

I guess we can test on myself to see if the idea has a basis. From the data we'll gain we can then give up or refine further.

My main concern is on whether this can work at all, not about finding something that would be effective. Both he and I are made out of the stuff cognition comes from, so my fear is that as long as we don't think we can be affected we won't be.

If there are concerns about my safety we can test something really benign, the goal is just to see if we have immunity or not.

How about, "The Ken Amada who didn't kill Falcon but has incredible power has gained incredible power thanks to the bonds he's made?"

We can weaponize power of friendship. It's already an acceptable concept in this place.
fogboundcrow: (thinkin')

[personal profile] fogboundcrow 2024-12-03 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Specificity might not hurt. For instance...

"Empowered by his friends, the good Ken Amada with special powers is invulnerable to his evil doppelganger's abilities."
fogboundcrow: (wat)

[personal profile] fogboundcrow 2024-12-06 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, let's see...

"The Ken Amada with facial scars, who is close friends with Raven, can summon ice cream cones with a snap of his fingers."

Or perhaps since it's getting colder, we can substitute it for something more pragmatic, like a hot food or beverage.
vessel_ken_amada: (hc-angry)

[personal profile] vessel_ken_amada 2024-12-08 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
The ability to hide my facial scars. That would be right what he'd expect me to try to do: he called me a coward, after all.

[personal profile] fogboundcrow 2024-12-08 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
He will rue the day he belittled you, Ken.

You're anything but a coward.
fogboundcrow: (wat)

[personal profile] fogboundcrow 2024-12-09 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I see nothing cowardly about you. You've been very forthcoming with me, even when it was hard.
vessel_ken_amada: (hc-hurt)

[personal profile] vessel_ken_amada 2024-12-09 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
But he's right. If I hadn't been so afraid of who I am, I could have become skilled with my powers and I'd stand a chance against him...
fogboundcrow: (shame)

[personal profile] fogboundcrow 2024-12-09 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's wrong to show restraint. It means you aren't abusing your power.
vessel_ken_amada: (hc-hurt)

[personal profile] vessel_ken_amada 2024-12-09 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
But I've been so afraid I don't even know how to use it. And now it comes back to hurt us. This is my fault...
fogboundcrow: (srs bsnz)

[personal profile] fogboundcrow 2024-12-09 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not your fault, Ken.

He's the one who came here. He's the one who hurt Falcon.

If he hadn't arrived, none of this would have happened.

You're better than him.
vessel_ken_amada: (hc-not-convinced)

[personal profile] vessel_ken_amada 2024-12-09 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, he's the one doing the bad things, but my cowardice may be why we can't stop him...

[Slightly later, another message.]

I don't want to be the reason we fail

takutomaruki: rosebursts (menacing)

reacting on 1st week of january

[personal profile] takutomaruki 2025-01-09 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Maruki scrolled through the thread, his eyes scanning each line of text with a growing intensity. His expression remained carefully neutral, but his mind churned, the implications unfurling like smoke tendrils in a darkened room.

Rumors become reality... a cognitive world where perception shapes truth. Even the most outlandish notions can be made real, given enough belief...

The cigarette between his fingers smoldered, a faint ember glowing against the backdrop of his dimly lit quarters. His gaze flicked to the glowing screen, the words practically etched into his mind. Sumaru City... the power of rumors... weaponizing collective cognition. It was an academic quandary on the surface, yet beneath it lay something far more primal. An opportunity.

His hand trembled ever so slightly as he brought the cigarette to his lips, inhaling deeply. The smoke filled his lungs, the acrid burn grounding him even as his thoughts strayed to places he tried so desperately to keep buried.

Rumi...

His vision blurred, and for a fleeting instant, he was back in that suffocating room. The echo of his fist slamming onto Igor’s desk reverberated in his ears, the words “She’s not real” cutting through him like glass. The crumpled papers, the glow of denial, the mocking smile that had haunted him ever since—it all came rushing back, raw and vivid.

The memory twisted in his mind as his gaze returned to the thread. A plan began to take shape, half-formed yet persistent. Maruki leaned back in his chair, exhaling a stream of smoke that curled upward, dissolving into the shadows above. His lips curved into a small, almost imperceptible smile—not one of mirth, but something colder. Calculated.

His thoughts coiled inward, circling around the possibilities. If rumors could shape reality, if the collective will of others could manifest truths... then perhaps this cursed place had given him a tool he never anticipated. A way to level the playing field. A way to finally grasp what had always been out of reach.

The cigarette burned lower as the room filled with a faint haze. Maruki’s eyes remained fixed on the screen, his expression unreadable. He didn’t move, didn’t speak. He simply sat there, his mind a roiling storm behind that calm exterior.

Outside the room, the soft hum of the facility continued unabated, oblivious to the gears now turning in the doctor's head.
