ANY QUESTIONS?
Please feel more than free to ask them! I'll do my best to answer them.

Yeah no, Kaitou chases after him. He's not leaving until Wolf comes with them safely, and not bothering to wait for the others to act.
He gets where he's coming from, but he shouldn't give up.
no subject
"There is always a third option, even if you have to break down the barriers and pave that path for yourself. Moreover, the ones who brought you to that lab... They're to blame for putting you through hell."
He doesn't expect words to work, but it needs to be said.

Quietly almost. Along with her additional help as the navigator who only ever spoke when spoken to or when she needed to warn the team for a new upcoming torrent of what it's like to be subjected to the deep abyss of a human soul. A hell that never really seemed to end no matter who stood next to you or the sheer complications of what it was like...to live.
As she did once. As a human.
Wolf's words hurt. They hurt and permeate within her like barbed wires clawing through her flesh if she possessed any. In a life where she wasn't reborn as code.
Her voice booms through, her jewel form permeating in and out as she floats and rushes through the cognitive space- swimming in the air with no limitations of sweat or fatigue as she rushed past Rookmon and stops right before Wolf. "Wait! Just—listen to me!"
Her form flickers as the jewel shifts. Shards collapse as they enlarge, collapse and manifest together in a matter of few seconds right as they make it past the door and she suddenly drops before him- hands stopped as Wolf would see her in the same form as she was earlier when she first awakened. The same black mask, a simple top hat leading down to a black coat over her usual digital form that wore a grey top vest and black trousers. She’s breathing heavy—not because she has to, but because that’s how she remembers being human. It's instinct. It's a simulation. It's... comforting.
Her voice, however, is all real. "With Ubukata...back in the Okinsawa jail, when you went back there after everything- I ran into some files. I didn't mean to dig that far in but Wolf- the people who exploited you, who chained you down- they are the monsters."
"I was a human- Akane Hasegawa. I remember that. My soul was bound and exploited under the Kirijo group's thumb. Our unit was exploited to kill shadows, my father killed shadows to free them from their jails. I was his navigator. I saw people shut down."
"And we were lied to. My existence was lied to me. It's why you went back to the lab, didn't you? You think you’re some one-of-a-kind monster, some tragic glitch in the system? Sorry, buddy—hate to break it to you, it feels like I am looking at a damn mirror. You are hurt. You are terrified of what's going to come next. You went looking for answers, and all you found was a bunch of locked doors and people who used you up and threw away the key.”
"But what safety will you find in the beast? You hope for freedom- what freedom? The freedom where you play right into the hands of those who truly abandoned their humanity like Masayoshi Shido? Like Ubukata? They can all go to hell-! You are better than them!"
no subject
"You know I still taste her blood sometimes. It's always the same. People like her always express all that concern and care- way, way too fucking late for it to be of use to anyone."
His gaze turned to the floor, not meeting anyone's gaze. "Mom- don't make me laugh. She killed herself to get away from me."
And Wolf paused. "If I followed through on my plan, then, would that stop? Kill Shido, and then run? Give up on the human world altogether and just go back to the way things used to be?"
"Then it's decided. Clinging to anything else like it's going to somehow save me is self-delusion and I don't need it."
"You're lying."
The tiny, frail Shadow wasn't making eye contact, either. But it was clearly addressing Wolf, this time, and not those who'd come with him. "You're always lying. Acting like you're above it all, like you don't care." It- he- looked up, at last, pinning Wolf to the spot, the boy's retort dying on his lips.
"But you can't lie to me."
I misunderstood your last tag, oops
"Giving up your humanity and isolating yourself isn't going to help you. Living in fear of yourself is not a way to live."
Logically he knows their words are falling on deaf ears, but what else can they do?
no subject
no subject
"Not of yourself. It's everyone else. You're so scared, all the time, of what everyone else thinks of you. That they'll look inside you and see exactly what Shido does. You're terrified of the possibility that they'll reject you, so you convince yourself they will- and that you hate them for it. And it's all a lie."
"Convince myself- where are they, then?! Where are the people who supposedly care so goddamn much, Ken's conspicuously absent, guess he finally had enough, and Falcon made it real fucking clear what he really thought of me-" he gestured, wildly, at those behind him. "And this is your evidence to the contrary?! A boy I've exchanged all of two words with, a pack of perfect fucking strangers, and some bitch who couldn't keep her nose out of my business-"
"Don't call her that!" The Shadow was on his feet, now, eyes watering, but he hadn't been the only one who'd spoken.
Goro froze, turned to glare at the avian digimon who'd interrupted.
For a moment- just a moment- Wolf faltered. His expression softened. And then it hardened again. "Then you're delusional." He turned back to his Shadow, stalking towards the child with a scowl. "You want me to accept you, right?"
The Shadow was hesitant, eyes betraying a momentary fear. "Wait-"
Wolf picked him up by the collar, willfully ignored the warning growl from Loogarmon. "Alright. I accept. This fear, this need, this childish desperation-"
"Stop it-"
"It's all me."
"You're hurting-"
Loogarmon stood, glare fixated on Wolf as though prepared to lunge. Rookmon was saying something, pleading, but he couldn't hear.
"I accept you, so you go away. But I don't. Need. You. Not when survival is the stakes. You're dead weight. So do us both a favor… and die."
And the Shadow screamed.

The form of the wolf, the frail body of the Shadow, and Wolf, who barely seemed, in the moment, to even have enough time to be surprised- all were consumed by fire. Fire that spread, blackened concrete and melted steel. Alarms flared to life and the air was suddenly full of smoke and embers, and the trio burned, incinerated in one great column of tornadic flame.
A claw emerged, digging into the floor and leaving orange streaks of molten stone where it touched. There was nothing to it, now, but bone, charred black and wreathed in fire as though it was armor, but it was followed by an arm, a shoulder, a fanged skull.
OST: Something Eroding [Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth]
Rookmon staggered backward, eyes widening as it emerged from the blaze, a bellow of fury tearing itself free from the beast's throat as the furnace within roared to life, the very core of it glowing white-hot.
So the rescue was going well.

Damn it all, she can't think like this. Not right now. She's just trying to help right? Even if it wasn't her place to poke in and- Dad. Where's dad? He would know what to say wouldn't he-"
2/2 (navi announcement)
She recedes, head whipping to the direction of the fire as her eyes widened. "This isn't..." This fire. This bellowing creature before her...she's never analyzed someone like that. "I- I am trying to understand these readings- this isn't like anything I have worked with-!"
She rushed back to the battlefield, slower in comparison to others before she stumbles and gives back- receding back to her jewel form as she floats before Rookmon's side, the flames casting the bright reflective faces of her floating form- rendering it nearly yellow. The bird wouldn't be able to see the vague twitch of a smile on her lips as her body would tilt towards Rookmon.
"...thanks Rookmon. He's being an asshole about this but we will get him out-! Whether he likes it or not-!" Her words are mostly show- given how terrified her body still is. She wants to hug the avian so bad but soon...once she's logged back into her dad's server she should be able to interact with objects through her body again.

But they needed to take it absolutely seriously.
"Buffs and debuffs first!" Hamuko shouted, projecting her voice clearly over the roar of flame.
Higher chances of it at least resisting physical and gun attacks - Hamuko switched her naginata to her off hand to pull out her evoker instead. Putting her evoker to her temple, she pulled the trigger and summoned--
"Thanatos!"
The Death Arcana Persona growled hollowly as it summoned, outstretching a gloved hand before clenching it in a fist, casting Debilitate on the creature - hopefully it being a 'digimon' didn't preclude it from status effects.
no subject
But what to do next? Hamuko has Debilitate covered.
So... to start, he'll use Concentrate. Chances are, this Shadow is still vulnerable to Almighty attacks.
no subject
Movement drew its attention, gaze fixing for a moment on Raven, and in response- with an earsplitting howl, vomited forth a gout of flame, aimed directly at him.
no subject
Since buffs and debuffs were already covered, he decides to try to go for the most obvious potential weakness first.
"Mother Harlot!"
The persona sends out an Ice Age and given that Mother Harlot also has Ice Amp, that boosts the ice attack even more.
Hopefully ice is the digimon's weakness.
navi skill !!
"I am going to try poking in at its other strengths and weaknesses-! In the meantime here's a freebie! System overclock!" She pushes at the button as the jewel briefly and just above all the party members a halo-like ring of cracked code would manifest- suddenly scanning over them. Those in the party would notice just as soon as the walls manifest away, a brief flash of code would appear. Amping up their attack and agility for a while.
[System overclock is basically Matarukaja on steroids.]
no subject
Good thing he has an answer for that. "Black Frost!" With a simple shuffling of cards, the giggly, dark jester marches by his side, and Raven launches a Diamond Dust in retaliation.
no subject
"Messiah!" she called, pulling the trigger on her evoker and calling her Persona to cast an early Salvation, topping everyone off for the next volley.
no subject
White-hot fury burned within its empty eyes, and the beast barreled once more towards Raven, who'd seemed for the moment to have earned its ire, swiping once- then twice- with flame-wreathed claws as it bore down on him.
no subject
"Metatron!"
This time the persona sends out a Makougaon and much like Mother Harlot, Metatron also has Bless Amp, strengthening the attack as well.
Perhaps that might work better?
cw: slight self-harm imagery possibly?
And the beast- flinched.
There were echoes of voices, among the flames. A woman's, familiar enough to be marked as Wakaba Isshiki's, frantic, pleading-
You don't have to do this. You're better than this!
There was a keening sound, close to a whimper, and Rookmon approached, arms spread wide.
It shook its head, starting to stand, growling, clawing, for a moment, at its own face.
The wolf stilled, its breath coming in deep, ragged gasps. Its limbs trembled with some hidden exertion, teeth bared and grit as though in tremendous pain... only for the beast to lunge, not at one of the party arrayed against it, but sideways, into the wall, its skull slamming into the hard stone. And again- once, twice, the wall, the floor, snarling in pain before rearing back and howling once more.
It leapt, upwards, towards the ceiling, a corona of flame gathering around each claw, rebounded off the ceiling...
And impacted the floor in an explosion.
In reality, while Wolf's Shadow resided in the deepest level of the dungeon, the room in which Goro Akechi had been housed had not, in point of fact, been on the lowest level. There had been another underneath- a space for the compound's myriad support structures. Its pipes for water, pumps to be used in case of flood, its backup generators, and the fuel being stored for such. A low-ceilinged sub-level intended to be used for the maintenance of the facility, and little else.
The floor of the containment cell buckled, and split, dropping the occupants into darkness, swiftly clouded by the dust of collapsing concrete and the steam of burst pipes.
It did not remain dark for long. Fuel barrels, ruptured by the impact, now burst into flame. In the distance overhead, some massive portion of the facility groaned and collapsed under the weight of weakening supports.
Shakily, now, glowing particles now drifting upwards from several places along its body that had sustained damage, the Wolf picked itself out of the rubble. It was clearly favoring one front leg, and moving more slowly, now- injured- but not yet finished.
no subject
Oh this is bad.
"Black Frost!" he calls out, the darkest of the Jack Bros bursting forth with a giggling hee-ho. At Wild's command, it uses Diamond Dust, choking out the flames with icy pillars. He hopes that they'll also help to keep the facility stable for a little longer.
"We need to keep this place from going down!"
no subject
"I'll focus on the wolf while you guys work on keeping the place intact."
Kaitou has Metatron send another Makougaon. He's gonna try to have it taken down as quickly as he can.
no subject
"Help them out, Black Frost!"
Best to stick to what works, so his own Black Frost joins in using his powerful ice magic to try and solidify the collapsing facility. Right now, it's their best bet.
no subject
The others split between supporting the collapsing structure and weakening Wolf further, so Hamuko pulled her Evoker.
"Messiah!"
Recovering everyone's health with Salvation, she braced for what might come next.
"Wolf! Whatever came before - we're here to help you now!"
no subject
Rookmon, unfortunately, had not weathered the assault- but at least he was breathing. Alive, but unconscious.
Shakily, the beast righted itself, wheezing, fraying at the edges now- and it charged, momentum slowed by the limp it was now sporting, raising a claw-
And stopped.
Not quite all at once; each limb seemed to come to the same realization at different times, such that the end result was a badly-coordinated slide into stillness, as empty, flaming eyes took in the sight of the small, barely-moving body in front of them.
Like logs shifting on the fire, it sagged, and collapsed, throwing up embers that soon faded into nothing, taking with them the heart of the inferno. The lab was once more a place of ruin and decay, and there, on his knees amongst the ashes, for the first time in too, too long-
Goro Akechi wept.
"No. No, no, I'm sorry, please- help him, somebody-"
