[EVENT] Memory Tapes

On the morning of November 21st, denizens in the Velvet Room will awake to a message on their phones or by their bedsides in an envelope. Perhaps even on their computer screens.

Greetings! If you've received this message, then you've been selected as a participant in a new activity to strengthen bonds within this community.

In order to facilitate connections with your fellow residents, we advise you to watch this video. Watch it and return the tape to its rightful owner. If you lacked the means to watch VHS tapes before, we have provided you with the necessary equipment.

Failure to do so may put your own memories at risk. Do not be selfish, lest you find yourself struggling to recall crucial moments of your life. You have no way of knowing which memories have been shared, so ask yourself if it is worth the risk to selfishly hoard another's secrets.

They will soon find a VHS tape, with a case that gives off a soft, blue glow to symbolize its importance. If they lack a TV or VCR, they will find one in their living space.

What they do is up to them, but they should heed the warning, if they value their own memories.

He must be truly revolting, to go to such lengths. Though, I suppose you would be sparing others from his poison.

He is, and I would be.

[Mostly, though, she just wants him dead. The benefit to others who might have dealt with him in the future and won't have to is incidental.]

Well, I won't judge you for it. Even if I'm not inclined to murder, there are those who the world would be better off without.

[He certainly wouldn't shed tears if anything happened to Shido, for instance.]

I suppose that just begs the question of where you'd like me to bring your tape.

My place is fine, unless you share the aversion to love hotels. In that case, we can arrange somewhere else to meet. I don't mind coming to you.

I think I can manage, since it's your domain. It's not as though anyone uses it for its intended purpose here.

[Frankly, he's seen far worse by this point, so he'll make his way over to Iwatodai and, in turn, the hotel.]

Very well. If I'm not in my room, I'm on the roof.

[Thankfully, Raven does know the area well enough, so he makes his way over. Naturally, he starts with Rose's room, with a cautious knock at the door. If all else fails, he'll just head up top.]

[Haru has redecorated the room to suit her sensibilities, so at least it doesn't look so much like A Love Hotel Room. Unless there's one that leans into the 'goth with plants' aesthetic, anyway.]

Raven relaxes when he sees the decor. It's certainly preferable to the more lavish and "love"-themed aesthetics he would have expected in a place like this.]

Of course. I was hardly going to leave it as I found it.

[If she ever leaves this place for good, it'll probably reset itself. Or maybe not, who knows.]

A pity that renovating the entire hotel would be such an intensive task. I think a full remodeling would certainly appeal more to the current population.

[Well, he'll go ahead and hold out the tape for Haru to take, since it is hers, after all.]

I'm not sure it would stick, either, the way vandalism and destruction tend to reset if left alone. At least my own space is holding steady.

Places like the Diet Building exist in our collective understanding of Tokyo, but they aren't "ours" the way that this room belongs to you, or like how my home is now shared with Magpie and so many others.

Quite possibly. The garden's certainly stable enough. I don't know if that would extend to the rest of the building, but it may be worth experimenting.

If you'd like, I certainly don't mind participating. Perhaps Magpie and Wagtail would enjoy it as well.

[He knows that Wagtail likes Rose as well. Surely he'd be willing to indulge in some scientific applications of redecorating.]

Maybe they would. I could ask Akako-san as well - there's a chance she'd find it particularly cathartic.

I'd certainly enjoy her input. It'd be fun to share a project with her.

[Though, with that in mind, he touches his chin.]

We could always make it a community endeavor, I suppose, but I'm not sure if we should.

It might be too many people piling in at once, that's for sure. Besides, if it works, we can turn a larger group loose on another building.

I'd say the Diet building, but I almost wonder if that's unoriginal at this point.
