[EVENT] Memory Tapes

On the morning of November 21st, denizens in the Velvet Room will awake to a message on their phones or by their bedsides in an envelope. Perhaps even on their computer screens.

Greetings! If you've received this message, then you've been selected as a participant in a new activity to strengthen bonds within this community.

In order to facilitate connections with your fellow residents, we advise you to watch this video. Watch it and return the tape to its rightful owner. If you lacked the means to watch VHS tapes before, we have provided you with the necessary equipment.

Failure to do so may put your own memories at risk. Do not be selfish, lest you find yourself struggling to recall crucial moments of your life. You have no way of knowing which memories have been shared, so ask yourself if it is worth the risk to selfishly hoard another's secrets.

They will soon find a VHS tape, with a case that gives off a soft, blue glow to symbolize its importance. If they lack a TV or VCR, they will find one in their living space.

What they do is up to them, but they should heed the warning, if they value their own memories.

Extra scenario: Evil Babey Tape

To the Ken Amada whom I just watched forcibly draw a woman's Shadow to the surface to force her to confess her secrets, and then induce apathy syndrome in her: I have your tape. I am waiting in Mementos. If you don't come, I will find you, and that is a promise. Your cult can't help you here.

And don't you fucking dare touch Raven. I'll make you regret it.

It has to be one of the other Kens. Another one arrived recently.

The Ken I know would never do such a thing.

[minipancake]

He wouldn't. Also, he's talked about his powers, and he never mentioned such things. He's not interested in Shadows and apathy syndrome at all.

[[locked, to Raven.]]

Logically, we must assume it's the new one. We know it's not our Ken. The other Ken is like the one I know back home. Plus, if he was malevolent, we'd know it by now.

That just leaves the new one.

It's a shame. I had encountered the new Ken on Halloween and he seemed ordinary at a glance.

He asked a great deal of questions, but that in itself isn't malicious.

Yet, again, nothing malicious has happened yet, has it? Nothing that would raise alarm, or suggest ill intent.

Crow would know.

We could always ask him.

Then again, I suspect he's fully aware of this conversation.

Well, Crow-san? What do you think?

[Wait for it...]

[A message pops up... from Raven?]

Using the process of elimination, I think we can safely conclude that the new Ken is our culprit.

Which presents a problem, if he's so powerful, yet putting on a friendly guise. Now that he's been exposed, he may be less inclined to keep up appearances.

[minipancake]

I knew you could do it!

[D'awww. But, more seriously....]

It's not as if Igor-san wouldn't let us come to harm. We know he has in the past. But if he's so dangerous, why is he here?

I'll be honest: I'm freaking out. I don't know what to do.

Also, for what it's worth, Crow believes in you, too. He fully suspects the newcomer is to blame.

Almost immediately after, an exhausted and shaking Ken appears in the Dojima house's living room.

[fogboundcrow]

And right away, Raven comes over to hug him. "It's going to be all right."

That's disturbing... if the culprit doesn't reveal himself, I'm willing to be investigated. My privacy is less important than identifying who is this dangerous Ken.

[fogboundcrow]

I don't believe it's you, either, for what it's worth.

I realize we're not as close, but I feel like process of elimination really does place the newest Ken under greatest suspicion.

I'd tend to agree with you. I have my own thoughts on the Ken Amada who arrived here first, but he doesn't seem the type to do such things. And we know so little about our newest arrival...

Some time later, in Mementos...

One Ken Amada - perhaps not the one Falcon had been expecting - was now casually strolling up to the entrance, one hand in a pocket, the other holding a popsicle he was sucking on.

He was very relaxed, without any hint of nervosity. It was clear he wasn't taking things seriously.

[gorobo]

And Falcon immediately notices- all his sensors on high alert. No, this is not the Amade he was expecting, but...

If the one he was thinking about felt like bad news to his sensors, this one- from his demeanor to his general aura, this one feels-

He can only describe it as pure evil.

His eyes narrow. "So Raven was right," he hisses, "you're the one."

The tape is clutched tightly in his right hand, the left one hovering near his side, caps already unlatched. He's ready for a fight, and it shows. He'll put an end to this manipulator- he'll keep the people he cares about safe.

[warped_ken_amada]

He doesn't seem to react at all at Falcon's aggressive behavior. It's like he's not noticing, or not caring about it.

"Hello, Falcon-san. I believe you wanted to give me something?"

[gorobo]

Falcon bristles at how clearly he's not being taken seriously, his glare intensifying. His entire body is tense, ready to spring into action at less than a moment's notice.

"That's right," he says lowly, "but I'm not doing this for you. You... whatever you are- you're even less human than me."

[warped_ken_amada]

"I'm indeed very far from being human. Is that a problem?"

Still the same demeanor, but perhaps the smallest hint of a malicious grin is appearing.

[gorobo]

"In itself? No." Falcon's grip on the tape tightens briefly, an unsettling feeling falling over him at the hint of that grin, but he won't back down. "But after what I saw..."

His stance shifts ever so slightly, determination coursing through his circuits.

"... There's no way I'm letting you just do what you want!"

And with that, he throws the tape at- whatever that thing is, but it is clearly not Amada- more force behind it than any human possibly could. A rain of bullets goes flying at the same time, aiming to catch the thing off-guard as he shoots forwards.

Ken lazily extends his free hand and caught the tape that was thrown at him. The volley of bullets hits him head-on, but it is just harmlessly absorbed by his body, replenishing his energy.

"Thanks for returning this," he says with an amused tone.

He wonders what Falcon had seen inside...
