a. Shibuya

Sumire's been meaning to expand her wardrobe for a while now, both here and at home. Kasumi chose everything for the both of them, so she only has the vaguest idea of what she's doing.

But! She has a - a date sometime soon! With a cute girl! So surely that means she needs to be able to dress to impress.

She's wandering around various clothing stores, occasionally consulting a packet of paper with labeled illustrations of various cuts of clothing. Sharp eyes might recognise the handwriting as Ann's, but the artwork decidedly is not. Even with that guidance, though, she... could use some help.

b. Tartarus

If Sumire's going to be any kind of use in Midnight-san's Palace, she needs some practice, and it's far better to get that practice with other people than to try to go into a cognitive space alone. Since there are regular Tartarus runs, she's opting to get in on one of those.

Even if the Dark Hour setting in and the high school exploding upward into a giant tower is... kind of alarming.

In proper Phantom Thief tradition, her outfit does change when she steps into the tower, but if anyone was expecting her to match the Violet they know, they're in for a shock. She's still wearing a leotard and long boots, but the leotard and its bolero jacket are a deep greenish-black, and the boots, more obviously green, have a faint snakeskin pattern. Sumire's gloves are blue-violet, and her hair pulls itself back into a bun, emerald-studded pins holding it in place.

She may be new to Persona combat, but she's ready to give it a go.

Well, since no one else has staked a claim to it, I guess I'll be Violet. I'm the new Sumire. You won't catch me putting my hair in that high ponytail any time soon, but I do sometimes braid it.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news in the middle of the holiday season, and this probably won't surprise many of you, but: Midnight-san is a hit in the Nav. I don't know her well enough to determine anything other than that.

I'm given to understand there are more urgent matters, and that's perfectly fine - when the time comes, I want to be there for Midnight-san like my friends at home were there for me, but to be able to do that, I need some training with my Persona. I've experienced about half of a proper battle before we had to change tactics, and I don't think we'll be cooking our way out of this one. If anyone would be willing to train with me, I'd greatly appreciate it; I'll try not to slow you down too much.

In the meantime, some advice for talking to Midnight-san until we can get her out of Dr. Maruki's fog: Don't use our names. I can speak from experience that she's likely incapable of hearing them properly - in the thick of it, I was Kasumi, and my dead sister was Sumire, no matter what anyone said to the contrary. She's likely to be applying that filter to everyone else's experiences as well. She did actually recognise me as myself, which could be because I'm not trying to mimic Kasumi's style anymore.

I don't know if I got through to her at all, or if I just made things worse, but from the looks of those notes she left on the board, 'better' is a long way off anyway.

Sumire listens to Igor's explanation, such as it is, twining the end of her braid around her finger. "...I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't understand," she finally says.

Igor seems disinclined to explain any further, though, so she moves on after a few awkward moments. The board looks kitted up to explain things, at the very least.

And it does clear a few things up, but it also raises several more questions. "This many of Akechi-san...?"

B

...Sumire will be avoiding the door with the warning label, thank you very much. She's very conscious that she's new to this whole Persona thing, and Futaba-senpai warned her not to mess with it alone.

That doesn't mean she's not curious about this Tartarus thing, or how the Metaverse is at all functional here, but she's not going to go into either by herself. Sure, her phone's been replaced, which removes the worry of it dying and stranding her there, but still.

Tokyo is the most familiar, so she goes there first. On the other hand, it feels disturbingly empty, being mostly populated by cognitive people. She should... probably see about claiming a place to crash, but she's not sure if home would feel safe or just weird.

She also investigates Inaba and Iwatodai, just because she can.

C

I'm sorry if I'm interrupting anything, but I had a question about the code names.

By the look of the extra notes on the board, I clearly can't assume I'm the only one of myself here (which is an odd thought, but it's no one's fault). Is Violet spoken for, or should I try to come up with something else?

It's the only idea Sumire's had so far, but... well. If she's here more than once, she might have thought of it at least once.
